In a swanky central London hotel which has the air-conditioning set to arctic, Matt Bellamy is staring at the floor. Not one for glib one-liners, the singer and guitarist of Muse, the biggest band ever to come out of the English Riviera town of Teignmouth, wrestles with questions like most people anguish over a Rubik's cube. Furrowed brow, a burst of quickfire action, followed by moments of quiet contemplation and anxiety. He looks uncomfortable, squaring with the media portrayal of an intense young man with the weight of a crumbling world on his slender shoulders. But then again, who wouldn't be put off their stroke by the whirring of Dictaphones and frantic scribbling of seven journalists waiting for you to say something headline-grabbing....
