Overall, this album just doesn't cut it. Its a good album but the problem is, Muse, seems to be trying to make a big epic masterpeice, very dark and emotional, BUT throw on some radio friendly songs at the same time. it just doesn't work. Compared to Origin Of Symmetry and Showbiz, this album is nothing.
1. Intro - Ok. Yea, nice
2. Apocolypse Please 8/10 - great song, great way to open an album. its very new, kinda coldplay influenced, like a harder version of the Scientist. and the synthesiser parts are waaay slick. great song, definetely one of the best.
3. Time is Running Out 6/10 - WTF!? this song is poppy as hell. Its clever in the way its arranged, but theres nothing new about it, no emotion, no talent really, just nothing. it lacks kinda, but its not terrible. Way to mainstream to be muse. Its not better then anything on showbiz. ewww.
4. Sing For Absolution 7.8/10 - Good stuff. It has a really nice vibe that it gives off, and muse again hasn't really done anything like this before. The song tends to drag a little, BUT, the ending is absolutely fantastic, gives you chills, beautiful, amazing vocals, everything, beautiful.
5. Stockholm Syndrome 10/10 - Yes.
. AMAZING song, genious, the piano of the chorus is one of the greatest things ever in a muse song. i consider it, the new born type song of this album, its amazing, fast, rocks so hard, such a complex structure, and requires enormous talent to play. wow. 3 thumbs up muse.
6. Falling Away With You 7/10 - its nice. pretty little song, the chorus is fantastic. it drags a little, the structure is kinda weak, its just verse, chorus, verse chorus, end, but still a good song. catchy enough, it'll do. The chorus has some nice synthesizer kinda things goin, reminds me a lot of Bliss
. Coulda been better, but its still nice.
7. Interlude - ............
8. Hysteria 10/10 - Tied with stockholm syndrome for the best track on the album. Fantastic bassline, the drums make it all dancy and groovy, but it rocks so hard. AAHH this is Muse. good stuff, great chorus, great solo, great work.
9. Blackout 8/10 - its a pretty sweet song, matts vocals are amazing in it. Very nice poetic lyrics too, muse aren't really known for their lyrics, but this song has great lyrics. Orchestral waltz, beautiful melodies, pretty good song.
10. Butterflies and Hurricanes 8/10 - Very Good. Experimental, not your conventional rock song, its fantastic. Very epic too, some would say its like the 'citizen erased' of absolution, although its not the best on the album. Its like the turning point of the album, great music, great message, another fast one. Its nice.
11. TSP 0/10 - disgusting. Terrible song. Its fucking emo. Muse emo. awful. the fact that they put this song on teh album rather then Fury sickens me. its a rocking guitar song, but it sucks. ewww bad job muse.
12. Endlessly 7/10 - another different one. its interesting at best, but you can't really say its bad.
13. Thoughts of a Dying Atheist 6/10 - Just like TIRO, another good song, but its nothing. A poppy manistream song, that again lacks substance
14. Ruled By Secrecy 8/10 - sweet stuff. about as good as apocolypse please, very dark and emotional, pretty song. it explodes kinda and its nice
