MUSE have made a sensational return to live action at V FESTIVAL - battling through despite an injured bass player.

The band headlined the Main Stage tonight (August 21), closing the Hylands Park leg of the event.

Their set had been thrown into doubt earlier in the week when it was revealed that Chris Wolstenholme had injured his hand while on the Curiosa tour in the US. He fractured his scaphoid bone and will be out of action for six weeks.

At the gig, the band were joined by session bassist Morgan Nicholls, while Chris appeared onstage with the band, playing keyboard and singing backing vocals on some songs.

Speaking from the stage, singer Matt Bellamy cried “We’re a four piece”, before playing a selection of greatest hits from their career.

Songs played included ’Sing For Absolution’, ’New Born’ and ’Muscle Museum’.

Chris set up a keyboard at the front of the stage, with a purple plaster up to his left elbow. With his other hand he played occasional keyboard and sang backing vocals....
