The popular industry magazine, Music Week, have confirmed that Muse will be performing at the London 2012 Olympic closing ceremony on August 12th.

Music Week
Christian Tattersfield of Warner Music and Richard Manners of Warner/Chappell have responded with delight to Muse's song Survival being selected as the Official Song of the London 2012 Games.

The two Warner companies own both the recording and publishing contract of the UK rock band who have been selected to write and perform the song.

Their new track Survival will be used internationally by broadcasters covering the games, when athletes enter the Olympic Stadium and in the lead-up to medal ceremonies. The song will also headline a programme of music called London 2012 Rock The Games.

Tattersfield, CEO, Warner Music UK, said: “This tremendous honour is testament to the international appeal of Muse and the quality of this great song. The Olympic Games are watched by billions of viewers from around the world and this unique opportunity provides a global platform for Muse to showcase their extraordinary music.”

Manners, managing director, Warner/Chappell UK, said, “The Olympics are a once in a lifetime event for London. ‘Survival’ resonates with the excitement and majesty of the occasion, and is sure to enhance the already electric atmosphere of the Games.”

Muse will also perform at the Olympic closing ceremony on August 12 and their upcoming album The 2nd Law, will be released on September 17 in the UK.
