Muse are to release a concert film. No release date has been announced yet, but lead singer Matt Bellamy told Rolling Stone magazine that he expects the film to get a limited theatrical release, including some IMAX screens.

Speaking about the film backstage at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas, Bellamy said: "Over the summer, we played this massive gig in Rome Olympic Stadium, that was probably the best gig of the year. [The film is] gonna come out in 4K, which is the highest resolution concert ever shot. It’s four times more powerful than HD, so it’s like ridiculous detail. When you see the concert being filmed, you can see all the crowd, you can see their faces being filmed."

Yesterday, in case you weren't already aware, Muse performed at the Zepp, in Tokyo, Japan. From the downright bonkers costumes, to the mind-blowing set, we have provided a summary of things you may have missed.

Dead Star
Micro Cuts
Liquid State
Hyper Music
New Born
Yes Please
Time is Running Out
Plug in Baby
Panic Station (w/ What's He Building In There? intro)
Supermassive Black Hole
Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You

The band also tweeted after the gig. Matt stated the show was a warm up for a 20th anniversary tour, which will most likely happen next year. Dom tweeted a picture while saying it was the funniest gig he's ever done, while Chris informed us that he lost a considerable about of sweat.

Tom Kirk also confirmed on Twitter that the show was filmed and will be released, some believing that it may be used for this year's Christmas present.

A user on the Muse subreddit has compiled an excellent list of photos and videos from the gig too, which can be found here.

So what did you think of the gig and the news of a upcoming anniversary tour? Sound off in the comments, and share any videos or pictures you can find!

Muse performed two storming sets over this bank holiday weekend, accompanied by perfect weather, a

cast of actors
and, well...
a robot
. We thought the gigs were fantastic, but what do the papers think? Let us know if we're missing any notable articles.

The Independent - 3/5: "It's a show, alright, often reminiscent of U2 at their most Zoo TV-overblown and daftly brilliant. In terms of Muse’s music, though, it’s a long set, and varies in quality."

The Guardian - 4/5: "The first of two nights at Emirates is, by anyone's definition, a visual spectacular: any show that includes a
five-metre robot
and a
huge lightbulb that opens to reveal a pirouetting acrobat
is automatically in the running for most theatrical gig of the year."

The Telegraph - 3/5: "[...] the anti-capitalist shtick is all a bit too much, particularly when a pint of beer costs £6.50 and comes in a Muse-branded cup. Punters can claim £2 back if they return the cup after the show. It is the kind of ingenious financial engineering that got us into this mess in the first place." Tom: I think that was the subprime mortgage crisis actually - but sure, blame it on the cups.

The Sun: "[...] the crowd went insane when Matt hopped down from the podium into the audience during their track
Undisclosed Desires.

The Arts Desk: "They gave us a little over two hours of what is an increasingly treasured repertoire. It might have taken a little while to get going but by the final songs of the night – the rousing
“Uprising” and “Starlight”
- it was undeniably Muse 1, Emirates Stadium 0."

Muse, whose music is being used in Paramount's "World War Z", will perform for 15,000 fans after the premiere of the film on June 2 in London.

In an unprecedented marriage of a full-scale concert and a film premiere, Muse will perform at Horse Guards Parade Ground, St. James’s Park, after the film screens in London’s Leicester Square. Tickets for the live performance will be available May 28 at

The filmmakers are using about 14 minutes of Muse music in the film, mostly the song "Isolated System." Their music will also be used in trailers on all platforms.

"It made the movie feel and sound really cool," Paramount Pictures president of motion pictures music Randy Spendlove says. "After we layered in the music, we reached out to their management in the U.S. (Q Prime) and the U.K. (Anthony Addis) to see how we could reach beyond the movie. We wanted (the relationship) to be bigger than that."

Paramount will film the concert and expects to make footage available soon.

The two Warner companies own both the recording and publishing contract of the UK rock band who have been selected to write and perform the song.

Their new track Survival will be used internationally by broadcasters covering the games, when athletes enter the Olympic Stadium and in the lead-up to medal ceremonies. The song will also headline a programme of music called London 2012 Rock The Games.

Tattersfield, CEO, Warner Music UK, said: “This tremendous honour is testament to the international appeal of Muse and the quality of this great song. The Olympic Games are watched by billions of viewers from around the world and this unique opportunity provides a global platform for Muse to showcase their extraordinary music.”

Manners, managing director, Warner/Chappell UK, said, “The Olympics are a once in a lifetime event for London. ‘Survival’ resonates with the excitement and majesty of the occasion, and is sure to enhance the already electric atmosphere of the Games.”

Muse will also perform at the Olympic closing ceremony on August 12 and their upcoming album The 2nd Law, will be released on September 17 in the UK.

Selling over 10m albums worldwide and critically acclaimed as one of the best live music acts ever, Muse’s 2007 H.A.A.R.P. tour has been crowned Wembley’s Greatest Event (1923 – 2010) as part of an online vote, which saw over 55,000 fans re-live their favourite moments from the stadium's 88 year history at

Facing heavyweight competition from the likes of the late Henry Cooper, Muse secured victory over Live Aid, England’s historic 1966 World Cup victory, Foo Fighters, the 1994 Rugby Challenge Cup Final, Queen’s 1986 Magic tour and the Michael Jackson Bad Tour. Wembley Stadium has been the setting for so many great events, not forgetting last month’s FA Cup Final and Champions League finale. Now Muse’s Greatest Event victory will be marked with a permanent installation at Wembley Stadium which sport and music fans can enjoy for many years to come.

Muse said: “We were honoured to be the first band to play at the new Wembley and now for our performance to have been chosen as the greatest is an amazing accolade, especially when you consider the sporting and music legends we were up against. We'll be back at Wembley again in the future and would like to thank all our fans for voting!"

Melvin Benn Chairman of Wembley Stadium, said: “Some of the greatest events over the last 50 years have taken place at Wembley Stadium. Now the Greatest Event campaign has allowed fans to look back and remember some of the most memorable moments of the past and celebrate them alongside some of our more recent moments in sport and music entertainment.

Whilst all Wembley’s events have been special, Muse are very deserving winners for their 2007 Wembley concerts which were nothing short of spectacular. For me it is fitting that a band widely acknowledged for being one of the best live acts in the world has now been recognised for putting on the Greatest Event at Wembley Stadium, one of the best live entertainment venues in the world.”

Wembley Greatest Event top 5 (1923 – 2010)

1. 2007 Muse (H.A.A.R.P Tour)

2. 1988 Michael Jackson (Bad Tour)

3. 1986 Queen Live at Wembley)

4. 2009 Take That (Circus Tour)

Muse have said they are likely to play some songs from their 'Origin Of Symmetry' album for the "last time" at this year's Reading And Leeds Festivals.

The band were speaking in the new issue of NME, on UK newsstands tomorrow (March 23) or available digitally. They are joining My Chemical Romance in headlining the August events, while The Strokes and Pulp will play co-headline slots.

Frontman Matt Bellamy said that the band want to mark the 10-year anniversary of 'Origin Of Symmetry''s release in some way at the shows.

"It's probably the last time some of these songs will ever be played live again," he said of the 2001 album. He explained that the shows would see the band "drawing a line under one phase of our career".

He added: "It was on the second album ['Origin...'] that things really started happening for the band, and when we focused on the live side of things much more. So it'll be like coming full circle: we've gone off on one a little bit, and now it feels like the right time to pull it back and remind ourselves of what we were doing 10 years ago."

Get the new issue of NME for the full interview with Muse, as well as chats with the other major players heading for the festivals.

The Reading And Leeds Festivals take place on August 26–28. Muse headline the Friday night (26) at Leeds and the Sunday night (28th) at Reading.

A recent article from Gigwise reports that Muse have some big plans for Glastonbury, including possible collaborations with other artists.

Muse have promised to do "something a little bit special" when they headline the Glastonbury festival next month.

Drummer Dom Howard said the band were currently planning their set, which he revealed could feature special guests.

"It's going to be great", Howard told XFM.

"We're playing Saturday night and we'll be doing something a little bit special for that show and doing something we've never done before, possibly incorporating some other musicians, which is going to be really fun."

As well as Glastonbury, Howard said Muse were also thinking about their two concerts at Wembley Stadium in September.

MTV reveal details about Muse's upcoming performance for the Video Music Awards 2009, including Muse's plans to cover 'America' from West Side Story

When Muse signed on to perform at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, they did it with one caveat: since the show was taking place just steps from Broadway, they wanted to do a show tune. For real.

So, of course, we obliged (after all, they are one of the hugest rock acts in the world). And while they'll perform "Uprising" — the first single from their upcoming The Resistance — during the VMAs telecast, we also let them loose on a classic from the Great White Way: "America," the flamboyant standard from Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim's "West Side Story."

"Yeah, 'West Side Story' is really cool. ... The song we chose to play, 'America,' is a very catchy tune," Muse frontman Matt Bellamy told MTV News. "I remember a version by a prog group called the Nice [an early front-runner of Emerson, Lake and Palmer] in the '70s, which was a pretty cool three-piece rock version, so I thought that would be a good version for us to play, because we're a three-piece too."

In the Sunday Herald Sun (one of the two main newspapers in Victoria, Australia) there was a short article stating that Muse were set to headline the Big Day Out for 2010

Muse is set to headline next year's Big Day Out. The British rock trio, whose new album the Resistance will be released next month, has played the January festival twice before, but next year will be the first time the band has nabbed the coveted closing slot. AC/DC had been an early tip for the main slot for the long-established festival, which began in 1992 and remains a favourite with some of the world's biggest bands

In an interview with Drowned in Sound, Dom talks about the set design for The Resistance tour, due to feature 'Floating Cubes'.

Yesterday, DiS caught up with Muse to discuss their new album but Dom let slip details of the live show for their forthcoming tour...

Speaking to DiS, Dominic Howard, Muse's drummer revealed:

"There's going to be some good video usage. We're going to be on some big moving LED structures, so we're all going to be moving up and down at different levels and actually playing quite high up in the air, which is something we've never done. We're going to be on these floating cubes of video *laughs maniacally*. Individual cubes, all like moving around. They're like massive towers and there's three of them with lots of video."
Dom also said that it won't be the standard stage set-up:

"I think we're going to be doing a few shows where we're going to have fans all around us. Not in the middle of the room but we've designed the stage in a way so that the crowd can fit all around us. Everyone's going to have a great view and get the whole show, even if you're sitting behind us, not just the back of our heads. There's going to be lots of spinning around and stuff like that. It won't be as big as U2's tour of hundred and twenty trucks, I think we'll fit it into about three."
But it sounds like this stage show could have been even more bonkers, with Dom grumbling:

"Most of our ideas get shot down by health and safety and it starts out much more ambitious than it ends up being but we're always trying to push it to the limits of the laws. This time we worked with a lady called Ez Devlin who's designed lots of operatics sets and she's been very great to work with, she's very creative, we bounced a lot of ideas around."
Check back later today for part 1 of our full Muse interview where they reveal how they feel about Teignmouth, touring the USA with U2 and discuss their forthcoming album The Resistance.

Absolute Radio would love to hear about your experience of Muse's (or other bands) live gigs! The best stories will bag you a couple of tickets to a festival of your choice! Submit your stories in the comments and we'll have a democratic decision as to who is nominated! Here is the spiel from Absolute Radio - read it carefully.

Submit your story to the music forum you belong to.

Your fellow forum friends then filter through the entries and the Administrator of the forum submits a nominated story for each event. (four in total)

The nominated stories from various forums get filtered down by a panel of judges. The selected stories then go to a public vote for which story is the best.

The winner for the event it was submitted to will receive a pair of tickets to that event.

The winner of each event then writes an account of the event they attended, and these stories then go to a vote.

The forum the winning story came from then gets to program their very own two hour virtual festival made up of live music from the Absolute Radio back catalogue to be played out live on air.

We've heard about the possibility of a "fan inclusive" stage design leading to speculation of a centre stage with the crowd surrounding the band.

Muse have recently posted a picture of them working on the stage design here.

The caption reads "working on set design. Expect an 8" stone 'enge."

Remember this tweet? " Interview with Magdalena from radio Fritz in Hamburg!"?

LeniInChains contacted Magdalena B. from RBB and asked her about her interview with Matt. She talks of Matt's plans for their next tour.

Marlén (translated)
"Hello Marlén,

we talked about the new album that has been recorded without any producer in their own new studio in Italy. They had a lot of fun (you probably already know their latest youtube videos).

The new album is (as always) grandiose... 11 tracks... all between 4-6 minutes long. We talked about their shows which they're already very excited about because they will be playing in big arenas in Germany for the first time (for example the Lanxess Arena) and it's going to be a show where they're playing in the centre in a sort of "extra building" and the audience stands all around and acrobats hover in the air... sounds interesting...
Besides, they will be U2's opening act in September, but only in America...

Anyway, they are very nice and easy-going guys (without airs).. Chris is a chain smoker ;-) and I think they're not able to believe how successful they really are when thinking of Wembley. Anyhow they're not the (according to Chris) "nerds who talk about conspiracy theories and the end of the world all day long".

Tom Kirk (KirkBot on .mu messagebaords) has posted a message on about the 'scam' ticket sites that have been circulating. The band and management are stressing that no one buy tickets from these sites. His message is posted below:

It has come to our attention that a number of secondary ticket websites are claiming to have Muse tickets for sale. We'd just like to make it clear that these websites have nothing to do with the band or management and we would strongly recommend against anyone purchasing tickets from these sites. Companies using the Muse name or logo (for example and are NOT affiliated to the band and there can be no guarantee that tickets bought from these agents will be legitimate.
