From what I've been hearing, people think it's one of the best films made in the last years. But I don't know, I haven't seen it.

^Saw it last week and thought it was brilliant! Amazing effects, brilliant acting and a really good plot, for once a fairly original story for a sci-fi film, might go see it a second time

Dunno what to say about it.

Guessing you either loved it or hated.

It's not that. I had already seen it, and even if this time around, I truly watched it, I still got left with this empty feeling inside of me. And that might be what's intended: for us to feel like Ram.

It gets seriously awesome around the middle and the plot is very interesting. Some people don't like it, I can understand why, but the realistic design of it makes it so much more creepier and yet attractive.

500 Days of Summer

definitely in my top 2 films of the year. Whilst amazing films such as Inglourious Basterds, Benjamin Button, and The Wrestler were fantastic, none of them moved, inspired, and entertained me near as much as 500 Days of Summer did. The only other film that has come close so far this year was Let The Right One In

I was going to see District 9 yesterday, but after convincing I ended up seeing Inglourious Basterds, which I'm very glad I saw. Brilliant.

And my brother wants to see District 9, so we can both go and see that.

District 9 was fantastic. It's a toss up between that and Star Trek for movie of the year.

sorry, but it wasn't that good....

It started with a really good premise, aliens and humans living together etc, etc.... but then turned into just another action/chase movie, albeit one with amazing special effects. the plot just sort of dissipated and fizzled out.

and am i the only one who thought there was one too many exploding bodies??

The Prestige. It was alright. Not what it was cracked up to be.

The problem I had with it was that it added what seemed to be a supernatural element, and genuine means of transportation. When the film focuses on trying to outdo one another's illusions, then adding that it just seemed silly. Not that clever, it was cheating.

Oldboy had a similar problem for me, the introduction of hypnosis in the ending tarnished it for me. If the events were caused by other means then it would have been great, but then it became not so great, in my opinion anyway.

^ The Prestige was one of the best movies in 2006. At least, for me. I thought the whole cast was brilliant (who could complain with Hugh Jackman + Christian Bale going up against each other? ;) )
Of course, it seemed way too far-fetched but that's the whole point of the movie I suppose. The simple solution to that was just that little twist in the end regarding Alfred.

Just got back from seeing 'Adventureland', really enjoyed it! Nice simple story that kind of reminded of films like 'The Breakfast Club'. Had that whole 80's vibe going on, and oh my god Kristen Stewart is gorgeous!
