It's funny that people are calling Radiohead overhyped on a Muse forum.

Let me clarify. A few of my friends were raving about them, so I figured I'd give them a listen. I downloaded 4 of their albums and found them to be fairly decent. To be honest, OK Computer is a very solid CD, but overall I just don't think that Radiohead deserves the 'superhuman' reputation that many people give them.

probably because you're not listening to it in the context of when it was made, how the previous albums sounded before Ok Computer, and how that album actually changed the world.
Radiohead are superhuman because no-one can imitate them, they sound like NOTHING else out there, and they're still releasing music for nearly 20 years that sounds different each album and changes more lives each time
they also dont need to make optimistic lies like "we're gonna land on the stage in a UFO and jetpacks" to gain popularity

The other great thing about Radiohead is that not only are the completely different to anyone else out there, each one of their albums is completely different to any other one they did. Can you see similarities between The Bends and Hail To The Thief? I can't. So not only are they different to any other band in the world... they are 7 times different!
(Nice early comment Ben. I hope you're getting enough sleep!)

I did listen to 3 albums before OK Computer. And just for clarification, I never said that Radiohead was a terrible band - I just think they are a bit overrated. Perhaps you have a point that I'm not taking it context when it was made. In that respect, I'm curious as to how you were able to place the album in context at the time when it was released (1997), at which time you would have been 6 years old. I don't mean to open up a can of worms, but I am merely trying to understand your argument.

No one said that you thought Radiohead were a bad band. We were just arguing against your sweeping statement that they are overrated.

and it doesn't matter how old you are to appreciate them making a difference in music surely. To be honest, they are a much more important band than Muse.

I always thought HttT was an "evolution" of The Bends. The sound has same directions, but in HttT it is more explored.
