Assuming you haven't been living under a rock for the past week or so, this is probably old news to you. Muse have confirmed they will be performing at tomorrow night's Olympic closing ceremony, joined by acts including The Who, Ed Sheeran and George Michael.
Tune into the live broadcast on BBC 1 or BBC 1 HD from 9PM BST. The ceremony is expected to last a stonking 3 hours, so we'll keep you posted here as soon as we have any updates.

I shall be watching.
Genuinely can't believe they haven't got the Spice Girls in.

they have got the spice girls mate!!

The Spice Girls will be there, I think, too. There were too many rumors, and the reports about the bitchy behaviour between Mrs Backham and Geri Halliwell :P
Cheers

I hope Muse blow everyone away with the choir/matt switching from piano to guitar/the ending bit. Very interested to see what they do with the stadium!

I'm not expecting Survival tomorrow. Chris himself said last week that they haven't rehearsed ANYTHING of the new material. And mind you that putting up rehearsals with orchestras and/or choirs in only a week would be nearly impossible to pull off. Either that, or adapting the whole song to a 4-piece band, which is also very complicated. Nonetheless, I would love to see it tomorrow

I'm more excited for this than I have ever been about an event I wasn't even going to.
And I'm also excited that Muse will be performing at the same place as the Spice Girls! That was the first gig I ever went to, when I was 12!
And they won't be playing live, so they didn't really need to rehearse. Only the singing will be live. So yeah I'm sure they'll do Survival.

Yeah they will... I mean. They told us all artists were doing playback, and then the Monkeys and McCartney played live fully. Fuck, the opening ceremony wasn't even completely about national music, and amongst all that shit, they managed to make a live performance.
Would you really think that in a ceremony COMPLETELY dedicated to music, they would use playbacks and lipsyncs there? Makes no sense whatsoever.

I swear Paul McCartney sung to a track, you could hear when he came in at the wrong time and was out of sync with it.

^^I was told the explaination about what happened with McCartney's performance, but I can't remember the exact details but it was some sort of audio/video delay, they were genuinely performing live.

^^Actually it kind of does when you think that there will be several acts who have to change over equipment, members and staging etc. (also taking into account that Spice Girls can't sing, if they are performing that is)... Remember it is a ''show'' and not a concert. After saying that I cannot imagine The Who miming to save their lives so I'm sure they will incorporate some live elements.
I will be at Blur anyway, that's where the real party is going to be

Impossible, nowadays summer festivals that feature huge lineups always have ways. Wether it be big mixing boards, or several of them, and various sets of mics.
It would be kind of insulting, since they have the money, and the way to do it.

Judging by Morgan's tweet it sounded like he would be playing bass, Chris guitar and Matt piano.

Dom said they would be playing Survival and considering Survival is the official olympic song, it would be pretty foolish not to play it, whether or not they're allowed to play it live is another question...

I hope it's not true because there's no way, matt would let chris do the guitare solo (maybe chris is playing piano) because if it's true then this is %100 going to be playback

I don't think its true because Morgan actually tweeted that he's sound checking with The Who's. So he might play the bass at their performance, not at the performance of Muse..

I know all that, and fuck, I want to hear it, I love that song. Maybe they pulled off some rehearsals, i dunno. We'll wait and see.

About a million people, probably.

It sounds very strange...the way that article puts it sounds like they're kinda shoehorning Muse into it, despite them writing the official song for the Olympics...at least put them first or something.

As Lennox finishes a giant, inflatable octopus will take to the stage. Jessie J, the singer, and Tinie Tempah, the rapper, are in the back of white Rolls-Royce convertibles singing as they drive around the octopus.
Hahahahahahaha, this is going to be terrible.
A human cannonball is fired, then Eric Idle sings Monty Python’s Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, as nuns on roller skates career around the stage.
This could be good.
A highlight of the evening will be a live performance by George Michael,
Gahh..

I think the majority of muse fans expect Muse to be the highlight, when really, they're one of hundreds of performers and not at all higher than others. They'll get a performance during something else more important.

I don't really care as long as they don't just put the camera on the athletes for the entire song
