Alright, the hard-drive on my laptop (on which I had Windows 7, 64-bit) fucked up last year and I had to get it replaced. Thankfully the cunts who replaced it installed a non-genuine 32-bit version of Windows 7 on it, so over the last six months or so I've been getting constant messages saying 'you're using counterfeit software' etc. After turning it on, when I reach my desktop, a message comes up saying that I can type in my serial number or w/e to activate Windows, but that doesn't work because it says I have a CD version which is only for updating and not clean new installs (which is bollocks). Thought I might as well re-install my old genuine 64-bit Windows 7 from the disc, but it won't let me - I just get an error message saying:

So I've tried restarting normally - fuck all happens. Tried restarting using files from the 'boot' folder on the disc but it won't let me use those either.
I'm clueless when it comes to computers so I might be missing/misunderstanding something completely obvious here. All I want to do is somehow get rid of the shitty version of Windows 7 I've got at the moment and install the 64-bit one from the disc.

Either download an .iso of which ever W7 version you want, burn to a dvd and install from boot, or crack the 32-bit version.

Is there no way of doing a clean install with the disc? I'd rather avoid having to crack it..

Depends on the disc. If you have an upgrade disc, I don't know. I read that you tried to boot from the disc to install and it said no.

Yeah, nuttin's working. I was just wondering if anyone who knew anything about computers might know a way around. Although I suppose if there's nothing I can do, how can I go about getting a crack? Warez?

yeah. You'll be able to download a crack only from one of the big W7 threads.
