'Walls of guitar' is probably just a reference to the end of Survival and Supremecy. But i'd love to be wrong!

Classic rock and roll album, but less bombastic.
That'll do nicely.

I view this as good news. Let`s just hope that it`s true.

Quote jadari :
Complete translation
In a year where the guitar has been declared dead 25 times already, the second law is prove of the contrary. It's a grand album, a straight up rock and roll-disk with a bit less bombast than their previous efforts. It contains a choir, the typical MB way of OTT singing, there are ballads, now and then a prominent brass-section, but more importantly: walls of guitar. The excursions into other genres are mere blinks of an eye, and do not represent a complete change of direction.
Edit. Brass not string indeed
Thanks for the translation. This sounds very hopeful indeed.
Oh, and since I can't post twice in a row, let me just add my two cents on the "walls of guitar" bit. I take this to mean a classic wall of sound, only with just guitar. I'm in!

When I think of a Wall of Guitars, I think of "Only Shallow" By My Bloody Valentine.

If it's accurate most of that sounds like good news. The fly in the ointment of course is the "plenty of OTT singing".
Awesome!

I can't remember - how good/bad/exciting were early TR track-by-track reviews?

No one seems to translate a for me important sentence that comes from the interviewer... She says she is a little bit disapointed... Strange...

they were ALL excited, and said that exogenesis was genius.
Some said: the album wasn't that good but exogenesis was genius
others: the album was amazing and exogenesis as well
if you go to metacritic.com you can see that the resistance has 100% of positive reviews but not that amazing but ended up with the same score as absolution who had both AMAZING reviews and Aweful reviews.
Both of them are slightly behind B&R in term of score.
So I think the global score at metacritic is a perfect way to know the overall quality of an album, even if it is not that exact.
all the bands I like as radiohead, muse, the white stripes, bon ever, the xx ...etc have really good scores so I often rely on it to find new bands...

she does in fact say that, but it seems to be just a first impression after listening to the first 4 songs, maybe craving more bombast/extremities initially, but realizing afterwards Muse have surprised her nonetheless.
But it is rather ambiguously said indeed.

She was disappointed at the lack of over-the-top( she called this "extreme")songs. She expected more survival/unsustainable-like tracks.
And i actually like this news.

Haven't read the full reviews but in the last one which states 'a classic Rock & Roll album' Sounds totally contradicory to everything else, but would be awesome if true!

I don't believe in Metacritic/most of medias out there.

The surest sign of the decline is Chris & Dom contributing songs.

This review from a preview listen made the Resistance sound like the second coming: http://www.muselive.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=40465&d=0
"Produced really well."
Seriously? We'll have to wait until we can hear the album for ourselves in that case.

Folks, the band says quite a lot about the album in the interview snippets here: http://www.youtube.com/user/iammastermagpie
Some interesting stuff!! Iammasterpmagpie is still uploading snippets. They discuss each track it seems! Chris seems very proud of the tracks.
Liquid State and Save Me will allow Matt to be let loose on the guitar according to Chris.
Madness is simple and electronic. Influenced by jazz, blues and RnB apparently.
NERO did the mix for Follow Me, which was originally a rock song before becoming 100% electronic.
Supremacy is diverse with orchestra and riffs apparently.
Big Freeze is about relationship conflicts and is a simple rock track.
Panic Station is uplifting and fun with slap bass. Makes you want to smile and dance.

I'm hearing these interviews have been leaked from the bonus DVD -- other sites are removing the links and videos already.

Yeah all those videos are great! It's very interesting (and strange) to hear them talk about the songs before hearing them. Especially hearing them discuss Madness just makes you want to know what they're talking about immediately.
And apparently the idea was to only put songs on this album that couldn't have been on any of the previous albums. And it seems like they feel like they reached that goal..

Great interviews! And Chris SPEAKS!

Interesting about the 'wall of guitars' compared with the band's take on the tracks from the leaked vids: they keep hammering on about electronic influences, but I do think - while they've experimented as usual - they're keeping it stripped back and almost celebrating the classic rock instruments like guitar, bass and drums.
Not sure how electronic music fits into that or if they've gone 'digital' with some tracks, but it's cool that they're trying something unknown... although I am a bit nervous about the way some songs are sounding .
If we never hear another Guiding Light, NSC or suchlike it'll be a huge success of an album !
