The cover art somebody made for Unsustainable as a joke was better
this.

Also is this likely to be on the new album or do you think it's just a one off single thing for the olympics?
|
|

I love the fact that they went into the studio and went "Right, we're amazing, we can probably get the theme song for the Olympics because of that so let's pretty much write it a year and a half before it starts."
And regarding the cover art, because it's just an Olympic release and it's only a download single and probably won't get a physical release, I don't think it's that bad really. Shows it's the Olympic single and that's good enough. The shade of yellow is lovely too

Is someone able to see the song in iTunes? Maybe with a 30-sec preview?
On the news page there's a link to iTunes (yellow "coming soon")
But when I try that link it says: not available in the Dutch store...

I think it's because it'll be released on there as soon as it's been played on the radio. Because it's gonna be released in full so soon, I doubt they'll put a pre-order link with a 30 sec sample, that coming soon is just a placeholder for later tonight.

Seems terrific, that's massive breakthrought for them. Again.
But i'm afraid that the song's not gonna be that different they previously told us...

I hear a buildup coming right after that.
But yeah... interesting...
BEST. I'VE GOT TO BE THE BEST.
I'VE GOT TO CHANGE THE WORLD...

Can't wait! Ooh today is exciting!

my god, I'm shuddering at the thought of how cheesy it's going to be.

Well if we are all expecting the worst, it can't be a disappointment.

I'll wait until I actually hear the whole thing to make judgement, but at the moment I would say that my hopes are too high.

I wonder if Zane Lowe will think this single is "huge" and the new album "sounds huge across the board" and it's their "best and most complete album yet".
I'm sure he'll 'respect what they are doing'.
I love the his excitedness for everything...its quite infectious!
Usually when Zane Lowe 'respects' what an artist is doing, it's his way of saying it's shit.
I think the most honest I've ever seen him is when he told Marilyn Manson he thought his new work was a "return to form".
Unfortunately, he followed that up a second later with a splutter and "n...not that I've disliked any of your work!".
I was at a conference and Zane was on a Q&A panel. Somebody asked him about Radio 1's backing of the new U2 album at the time and in the only way he knows he was ultra positive and said how the station wanted to back such a quality piece of work: the entire room pissed themselves with laughter.
I have a lot of respect for Zane Lowe. The week when he did the breakfast show was awesome!!

Didn't they already do this song? It's called "Invincible".

The first 1:33 is good and then it goes downhill once the vocal kicks in. The guitar solo sounds like the one from Innuendo.

At first it sounds like a mix between USoE and IBTY but once the guitar kicks in I begin to really enjoy it. Matt's vocals sound like he's trying to make a joke though, but I like it from first spurt of guitar onwards particularly the solo that starts pretty arabian like USoE and ends sounding like Innuendo
