So there's a Russian Circles gig in Toronto happening and none of my friends want to go because they don't listen to them. I usually bring my brother (17 years old) to shows, but this one is 19+ for whatever reason. I'm contemplating whether or not I should go alone.
Has anyone here ever been to a gig alone? How was it?
EDIT: I've done a bunch of searches and didn't find another thread like this.. So someone point me to the thread if it's already been done.

I'm sure there is a thread like this somewhere, though it alludes my memory where.
I've definitely posted about it. I've been to gigs on my own and I'll damn sure do it again.
In fact I'm going to Elbow on Saturday at Jodrell Bank, on my todd. And think I'll get a Regina Spektor ticket aswell.

I only go on my own if it's a band I really, really want to see.
Because I feel awkward but when it's Muse or something, it's worth the awkwardness.
And once they start playing it's not a problem anymore, and afterwards I'm always glad I went.

If no one else wants to go... That's not holding me back. I'll happily go together with other people, but if no one else is going and it's some artist I want to see, then I'll be there anyway. Some of the best gigs I've seen have been alone..

The more moshy, the more acceptable it is to go alone.

I have never gone to concert alone but I definitely would if there would be a gig where only I want to go. Actually there is chance that I will go see Bon Iver alone on August.

I went to an Interpol gig alone, it was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. And I met a guy who was alone too, you won't be the only one.
I'm going to Radiohead alone in October, I might actually prefer going alone, because you can stand wherever you want, leave whenever you want, it's cool .

Might go see Coldplay alone this summer, unless I decide to bring a girl or something. To be honest though, I think I'd rather go it alone.

There it is! Sorry for the duplicate thread guys.
It is a standing gig in a rather small venue, so I think I'm just going to go alone. I was just worried I'd be bored and awkward going alone, but I do love this band so it'll be worth it! Russian Circles doesn't really seem like a show that the girlfriend would enjoy seeing either, haha.
I've passed on seeing Explosions In The Sky when they came because no one wanted to go with me, but I'm not going to miss this one.
Thanks guys

It's also much easier to get to the front if you're on your own, because people just assume you're trying to get to your friends. Or they don't care because you're just one person and don't take up that much space.

Depends on the gig, if someone will go with me then great but if not it makes no difference to the gigs quality I've been to fantastic gigs alone!

I go very often to gigs alone. A lot of friends of mine don't like my alternative style of music so I rather go alone and go crazy, then going with a friend who doesn't like it at all. Or is just coming along because he/she otherwise feels sad for me for going alone.

I'm seeing Radiohead on my own in October, should be good. I suppose it's awkward standing around if you don't know anyone there but once the music starts it's all fine. Plus I'm guessing it's easier to find a decent spot to stand when you're on your own.
Going to Glasto next year with friends too, and I'm sure there'll be one or two bands I'm dying to see which my friends won't.
Small change got rained on with his own thirty-eight, and nobody flinched, down by the arcade.

I went to see my mates band on my own once. I felt bad for them with only one guy in the audience, but hey, it was easy to get to the bar, and there were no fucking greasy metallers there starting circle pits. All in all a pretty good gig.

I have been to two Muse gigs on my own, saw Kamelot last year on my own and am seeing Nightwish in November on my own also. If no one wants to go I aint missing out on someone I want to see!
