Here I though that the brainwashing cults were kinda old school. Besides I never though Scientology as a cult so I'm kinda shocked.

The whole thing reminds me of that Simpson's episode the movementarians. Hard labour, "your free to leave anytime you want" yet they're really prisoners, brainwashing.

Religious fever to such a degree, especially those that include some discrimination of other people, of any kind of religion just seems to lead to bad things.

The video seems very sensationalist. And these guys are apparently known to make up bullshit stories. But I have no trouble believing that these kind of places exist.

While shows like Today Tonight are Australia's version of the low brow print media in the UK like the DM, Sun and so forth this is no different to the many stories that already have come forward from former scientologists out of the US. I'd wager the guy isn't bullshitting anyone simply because most know scientology is a pile of wank and they have a track record. I think the reason this has got so much attention is the fact it's in Oz and we are oblivious to it, I mean the same thing will be happening anywhere these pricks take hold. I guarantee this goes on all over the world.

When you say a guy making bullshit stories, do you mean the news anchor or the kid? You mean the news show isn't that reliable?

The world knows that Scientology is wank and we love seeing more disgraces added to the 'church's repertoire.
I was watching a totally unrelated video on YouTube earlier today (a documentary on 'one hit wonders' if you care), and a banner ad popped up at the bottom of the video, saying 'What is Scientology? Find out for yourself'. The link led to Scientology.org, a site which advertised 'free trials' of 'courses'.
Mass advertising free trials of a supposed religion is as much evidence of being money-grabbing cult as most people need.
I don't think YouTube allows preaching in their adverts, so it's clear that it's a product that you can buy. That's not to say that other religions don't have sneaky corruption and money involved, as they all do. I'm yet to see any 'Jesus Loves You' banners anyway.
(I could put something really funny and intelligent here, but that would just be showing off.)

I don't know if this is true, but I would never trust Today Tonight... It is (almost) always just a pile of bullshit
