So Muse hit the nail on the head with Exogenesis. If we keep on with our current consumption rates we'll need to colonise 2 planets of equal spec to earth to continue to live.
Earth to expire by 2050, mankind may have to colonise new planets
EDIT: Forgot to check the dates, it's a 10 year old article, oh the embarrassment.
Still, what do you all think of the possibility? With the way science is coming along it could actually get to that stage!

Roll out the eugenics wagon.
However the sooner we can colonise space the better frankly.
Mind you Muse may of just read that article nearly 10 years ago when it was published .

In forty years I'll be 68. So I'll either be dead or pissing through a tube and complaining about buses being late. Either way this is not news that vexes me.

So, as it's unlikely that the human race will survive globally throughout the next century or two, I vote that we squander our resources entirely and have one heck of a party.
...the fact that it been chosen makes me thing it`ll be pants and were getting NSC 2. - Me, about Survival.

Just need to get dominionist nutjobs away from the big red button. When they're all safely in straight jackets, not doing everything we can* to screw things up shan't seem like such a controversial position.
* Such as: eliminating environmental protection laws, waging wars with no benefit, giving tax breaks for fossil fuel energy production, slashing science budgets, discouraging contraception and abortion, giving birth to a metric fucktonne of children, insisting on constant geometric growth in economies, glamorising conspicuous consumption, [insert example here], to name a few.

"A study by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), to be released on Tuesday, warns that the human race is plundering the planet at a pace that outstrips its capacity to support life."
Of course they are going to say we're all going to die and we need to give money to the WWF to stop Earth from dying. I'm not saying they're completely wrong, but look at this report and the article very critically. 2050 seems a bit too much of a pessimistic guess to me.
But on the other hand, they may have to exaggerate to make countries/politicians/governments act. Canada stepped out of Kyoto yesterday, that's not a good sign, but the US en China never even signed it, that's worse.
