I was quite surprised nobody made a thread on this, as it gives us all an opportunity to get on our high horses and lambast a tabloid newspaper for their shameful behaviour.
So, this time round, it turns out that the News of the World has also hacked the phone of Milly Dowler (that murdered 13 year old girl whose killer was jailed the other week) just after she'd been kidnapped and, and this is the worst part, deleted voicemails left by her worried friends and family to make room for new ones that might provide some news. This of course led some people to believe she was still alive because her voicemails were being checked.
Obviously, everyone is in uproar, and the other papers are sinking their claws in.
Pretty naughty, isn't it?

If this was any other media outlet, they'd be shut down. But because it's News Corp, expect Murdoch to throw a few millions at it and it'll quieten down. The only way they can be stopped is if PEOPLE STOP BUYING the newspapers.
Interesting development in that police have contacted the victims' parents of the Soham murders over phone hacking too, so unsurprisingly, this shit goes deeper.

NoTW should be shut down. Not just because it's a shit paper, but because of all this...it's actually made me feel a bit sick that they've done all this just to sell more papers.

I was just about to say I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Sarah Payne murder was involved as well, and hadn't even seen this.
Shows how little faith we have in News of the World, and that's how it should stay. Pricks.

Wow. I knew tabloid journalism was bad, but this is unbelievable. NOTW shouldn't be allowed to exist, that's for sure, but what about individual journalists or editors? Is anyone being prosecuted over this? I wish they could get to Rupert Murdoch, but he's too powerful.
I hope his other newspapers will be investigated as well.

That has to be the worse than previous...the depths are low already, I'm struggling to think of lower at the moment.
It really is a shocking practice.
There will be prosecutions I assume, as far as I'm aware phone tapping is illegal unless done by the Police under certain Acts of Parliament.
