Both games look fucking awesome; i'll be getting both, however which one do you think will be the better all round game?
Battlefield 3 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Personally i think Battlefield's campaign will shit all over COD's, but COD online will better Battlefield.
Overall.......i'll probably play COD more.

Gears of War 3
But out of those, I will play Call of Duty more and like Black Ops it will enrage me something wicked and yet I will continue playing it.
Battlefield 3 will probably be the better game. Playing Bad Company 2 I preferred it to Call of Duty, I'm not sure why, I am pretty bad at it but as usual I will end up going back to Call of Duty nonetheless.
Plus Battlefield 3 has vehicles and maybe destructible buildings. Does it have destructible buildings?

MW3 looks the same as all the others, whereas B3 just looks insane.

Think I'm gonna go for BF3 if any of them. If I wanted to play MW3 I might as well just pop in my old MW1. It's the same game anyway.

But we do. It looks exactly the same. Obviously the story is different but the gameplay and graphics are the same.

QFT.
Personally,I reckon Battlefield is the best online shooter, and unlike CoD, it actually requires some skill and a bit of planning. Perfect for filtering out the children and asshole's of CoD's online gameplay, sorry to generalise (it's just my experience with the game, really).
With Battlefield, there's always a few mates that play it with me, and we immediately form a squad and plan for the match, each person taking on different roles. Not only is it very fulfilling and there's a great sense of achievement, but it's also a basis for extremely fun gameplay and enjoyable combat. It seems to have an appeal for a much more mature player, and I love every aspect of the game from the destruction right down to the incredible sniping. The people I've encountered online are a lot less violent and abusive, and I can't help but just look down on CoD ever since playing Battlefield. The only thing Battlefield has lacked so far is an enjoyable campaign, but that may be rectified in BF3.

Not really. DICE has constantly changed the Battlefield series, whether by its setting (if my count is good, there have been six or seven distinct time periods in the series so far, to CoD's three), or by the game itself - DICE have constantly tried to keep up with the latest technology, changing game engine game-by-game, then developing their own with Frostbite. Call of Duty has used the same engine since 2005 (Call of Duty 2 - we're now on 8 ) with absolutely minimal changes, mostly aesthetic ones. I'm not just saying that, I have a couple of friends doing a video game course at uni, who studied game engine design as part of that course, and they said the CoD engine hasn't been updated to any noticeable degree since CoD 2, as far as they could tell. Shit, even I can tell. Black Ops handles in exactly the same way every other game in the series does.
With the Battlefield series, playing 2142 (2006) is completely different to playing Modern Combat (2005), and playing BC2 (2010) is completely different to playing BF2 (2005). It's the freshness that gives it the edge. That's what I dislike about Infinity Ward/Treyarch, and what I like about DICE. Go and watch the BF3 trailer and tell me it doesn't look absolutely amazing, technically. MW3 looks alright, but again it's just the same as MW1 and 2.
That, and what James said above me. It's just a much more tactical, team-based, and consequently rewarding shooter. I can see why people enjoy Call of Duty, but you'd think it would get boring after five sequels.

Voted Battlefield having played Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield 2 already sealed the deal for me. When you are on an awesome server with good teammates its a blast to play. But honestly these are two completely different shooters. Battlefield is more team orientated and lets you do what you want when you play really (Drive tanks, Be a pilot, be a grunt) and the different game modes allow for replayability on the maps. Whereas COD is more arcadey all about getting kills mostly lone wolfish. To me COD is fun for a while and then it gets boring after a while with each release I buy it and then I get bored after a month I probably won't be getting MW3 this year if they don't add anything new to the MP otherwise its the same as the last 3 COD games get to a certain amount of kills to get a killstreak and die to start over again.

I've had enough of Call of Duty for the moment. Loved Modern Warfare but i think it's getting a little stale now, MW3 looks so similar to the previous ones, whereas Battlefield 3 looks like a nice change of pace. I've never played Battlefield before but it looks a lot more tactical which i think will be more rewarding. Plus it looks and sounds incredible. I know if i get MW3 i'm going to be bored within a few days.

At least Modern Warfares are the better of the Call of Duty games. Still a shame that they look the same though.

The first Modern Warfare was about as good as it got at the time. Pretty much shook up the entire FPS genre and told people, "This is how you do it". There was a good reason it receieved so many accolades. Even people who had become disillusioned the countless, shitty space marine FPS games took notice.
Since then? Meh. They've kinda gone the Die Hard route of just adding more explosions and shiny things to distract you from the fact that it's essentially the same formula as the last one. I like the Die Hard movies, and I like the Call of Duty games (the ones I bother to play anyway). But it's a little difficult to argue that if they keep going to the same well they're going to soon run out of water.
Battlefield is a series I never really got into much. It always seemed like the faux high brow FPS to me. Sort of the real ale of shooters. I like a pint of real ale from time to time, but you come across the hardened real ale drinker, stood at the end of the bar sipping his Old Perculiar, and he scoffs at you condescendingly with a "What? You're still drinking lager?" and it's kinda sad. For all it's bells and whistles, and at the end of the day we're both just getting shedded.
As much as I dislike the "Battlefield is for people who can actually play shooters" attitude, it's the game that matters, not the peck ends playing it. That's what mute was invented for. And the new Battlefield looks pretty tidy.
I'll wait until they're coming out. I might get both of them. I might get neither of them, or just one of them. It's too early to say based on the few videos we have.

I blame Activision for the reason why COD just seems to be the same exact thing every year. Look at what happened to the Guitar Hero franchise because of them.

Both Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 look like boring, generic first person shooters. Why are people even caring enough about this to debate it so much? It's beyond me how people care, we've seen much better games since both of these franchises began.
tl;dr - NEITHER

Realistic war games were fun, but I'm far more for gameplay over realism nowadays. Give me something like Timesplitters and I'll be happy.
