UK, obvs. Prince William (the future king) is now engaged to Kate Middleton (now the future Queen). William gave his fiancé the ring that his mother, Princess Diana, got for her engagement.
The couple are due to marry in Spring/Summer next year.
I don't really care all that much, I just wanted to make the topic

I thought this was great news.
Pretty sure that William will be the next British Monarch, no one likes Camilla, Charles is a little too old school for the here and now and the Royals know this. William is young, current and much like his mother, The Lady Diana, who was one of the most loved people in Britain and out.
He could really bring up to date the face of the Royal Family, who are after all the most famous Royalty in the world.
Also, Charles (the name) not being the most historically favoured of the Kings, somewhat of a jinxed title 'Cromwell and all that'.
As for the "blah blah, expensive wedding blah blah, financial turmoil" it hasn't even happened yet, typical attitude for people today.. put it down before its happened... besides, I don't think they would take the piss to be honest.. and for what it's worth, the Royal Family generate ten fold for the state what our measly few pieces of silver each we put towards them per year.
No one moans about the millions we are still paying for Tony Blair to jet around the world and he isn't even the PM anymore... and what did we get out of the deal? A fucking autobiography!! Like we really needed that to know how much of a cunt he is.

It's not so much a dislike as a... I don't see the point? What do they actually do that makes them worthwhile?
I'd rather see the £37 million - of taxpayers' money - we spend a year spent on something like, I don't know... housing? The NHS? Police? Giving the average council worker a wage rise?
I don't know, I'm just throwing around some ideas...
