However I don't know if a producer would have left the resistance the way it isn especially exogenesis and MK ultra they are too weird...
Exogenesis and MK Ultra and some of the only good things about that album. If they had used a producer and he only decided to change those songs we'd have an even worse album.

that's my point!
minus the part with the resistance being even "worse", since I like the resistance the way it is...

I don't think a producer just comes in and tries to make the album more 'commercial' so why would he completely change MK Ultra and Exogenesis? They'd still be working together and decide about the outcome together.
I understand that they didn't want to go back to a producer after doing it on their own (because they always seemed quite proud of the fact that they produced TR on their own), but I'm curious on why they decided to do it because Matt did say that he learned to never do it again.

maybe because the resistance was the most well received album they did...
both by critics and people (I said people not fans)

And Resistance had probably the second-best collection of songs on any of their albums (after OoS in my opinion), but personally I don't like it as much because of the production quality. If the production had been better it would have been amazing.
By production quality, I don't mean how polished a song sounds. I'm referring to how the production methods/quality help or hinder the song.

I don't know about the production but I agree with the first part. I like the fact that now, they are working really hard on each song. Because all the songs are different, they have to pay attention to every detail in them, there is no filler anymore. that's why in the resistance each song divides the fans (except guiding light which is hated by most of them).
If you see the first albums, fans favorite have always been quite the same
no one really thinks exopolitics or soldier's poem is the best song on B&R
the same goes for TSP, thoughts of a dying atheist and endlessly (one of my favorite songs by the way but I think I am one of the few who think that)
even in OOS the songs after microcuts are not as liked as the 7 first...

I adore Endlessly, one of my favorite Absolution tracks.

I think Endlessly and Hoodoo are their most underrated tracks, because they unleash their power and uniqueness during the performances.
On record, they are unconsiderable songs. For me.

It's funny you mention those three because I always thought of them as potential singles.

Me too. I found Exo-Politics to be far better than MotP and Supermassive Black Hole, and TSP was, in my opinion, better than Time is Running Out.
