this makes me wonder if the album is so great after all...
Me too..
But really, it does seem to have 1 good theme throughout the entire album. Not a shitload of songs thrown together that made BHaR.
Overall:
+ Length of songs, but we really don't know how long/short the rest is going to be. Still the album seems pretty long.
- Nothing mentioned about the bass.
01. Uprising
+ Matt's voice more serious.
+ Heavy sound
- Simple?
02. Resistance
+ Piano
03. Undisclosed Desires
+ Metal
+ Guitar piece
04. United States of Eurasia
+ Falsetto
+ Ends on the sound of a jet(yes that probably means an epic video single)
- Hopefully doesn't sound too much like Queen
05. Guiding Light
+ Guitar solo's
(allthough I'm guessing he could mean guitar riffs, simply because
"one of the trademarks of the fireman’s style in Muse." makes no
sense, and I would assume their trademark Riffs is what is meant here.)
06. Unnatural Selection
+ Church organ.
+ Transition to guitars and drum-battery.
07. MK Ultra
+ Riffs
+ Electronic, turned out pretty good with Map of the Problematique.
08. I Belong to You
+/- Slower paced
- French. I probably won't be a fan
+/- Incomprehensible(so? Micro Cuts..)
+ Clarinet. Could turn out awesome
09./10./12. Symphony
+/- Thom Yorke. I have no thoughts on this. I don't think they sound the same. I probably won't think about it at all when listening to it. Ever.
+ George Orwell/1984. I'm hoping the entire album is as influenced by it as has been hinted.
Still doesn't make me feel better :P
O well none the less I am buying it lol

I've been shooting this album down with every piece of info coming out, so I thought I'd try and see the good side. I'm thinking I'll at least like it more than BHaR.

Nice to see the tracks are looking to be quite long. I'm actually very much looking forward to hearing this album now.

I've liked all of there albums so far
Well... maybe not OoS as much but I'm optimistic they can pull it off again
Besides, Zane Lowe said it was good :P

Really Matt and Thom are both great singers but in no way have they really sounded alike.
Matt, in some of the Showbiz songs and we know other early material, was influenced by Radiohead and some of his vocals sounded a little like Yorke (There is some video on Youtube that shows a few little passages). I love both Muse and Radiohead, besides, this comparison has been thrown around all the time, but it's never meant Matt's voice has changed. So Meh.
That made no sense at all :P
Roll onto 14th September, it better be good, O2 Arena gig too to look foward to, exciting times

It would be awful now but slightly hilarious if all tracks were French or in different languages.
Awful but still funny.

Naaa I would sharpen my knife up for when I see Matt if he did that :P
After all this waiting and teasing it better be good lol

Oh no! Matt's going to sing a little french! :P
|
|
|
Hopefully he'll say words like poisson or le burger because they are a couple of the French words I can remember and understand

Well, I only just realised a few weeks ago that there were lyrics in "Forced in".

Unnatural selection sounds good i guess.. But from what this review says, it might notbe their best album to date. Still, thats the reviewers opinion
|
|
|
i dont think we should take this one too seriously
the sentance about guitar solos: 'the definitive feature of the pompous style of muse' should be enough to tell us that this guy is NOT a muse fan and doesnt understand their music and so is taking a really strongly affected view of the song
the fact that he had so little time means he probably didnt listen properly anyway so screw him!
|
|
|
This is all great news, however I wish the review explained which song the llama toenails are used in.
Also, the length of every song is not shown but at least it gives us a good idea of how long the whole album is.

less extravagant? I think it'll be much more extravagant then the previous ones.
But I'm not gonna pass a judgement until I've heard the first single.

The translation is quite bad...
It doesn't say it's "less extravagent", but, in some way, "less easy to listen to", not easy to assimilate...
Not the same thing !!! ;p
|
|
|
I'm hoping that Matt will keep the high notes sung in chest voice down to a minimum. That is not his forte and it would mean they wouldn't have to play them live a semitone or two lower than the studio version.
|
|
|
the way i see it is that the French reviewer was just jealous and was thinking 'Zey are not anyvayer near as good and French bands such as....... erm...... Daft Punk!' :P

Quote Every :
Clarinette arrives at the end of the song.
Probably the best thing EVER!
|
|
|
didn't Matt say its a bass clarinet solo rather than a clarinet solo? coz theyre different instruments if he said that, it's pretty much the same difference between guitar and bass guitar.
|
|
|
an epic new born-esque riff would be amazing
but it wont happen
