True, I only really take effects in after I see video shots. I'm really taking in the music, Matt’s dancing, Chris's head nodding, Dom's trousers and the atmosphere around me.

well i cant see too many old ones being played. charity gig at the royal albert hall means it will be filled with press and tv and booked tickets for people who are giving to charity and arent necesarilly muse fans. so i cant see them playing too many old ones and ditching the new album setlist.
plus they said they would try some new songs so at this rate its going 50/50 on new/old tracks and the usual. so i dont think we should get terribly excited about too many older tracks.
but imo it would be awsome to get TSP, Eternally Missed, Hyperchondriac music, space dementia and things.
just cant see it happening

As far as the setlist goes I can't see them bringing anything other than the ones they've already brought back into this one setlist. So you'll have the normal songs, with the possibility of Fury, RBS, Blackout, Unintended, Micro Cuts, Sing For Absolution.. I'd say there's a small chance there'll be one extra brought back but I wouldn't count on it. I'd say Micro Cuts is the most likely one to be played out of those though, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Back to basics means it certainly isn't going to be as good as the spectacular shows we know and love - in my opinion anyway. Bigger gigs with more production are always better - as long as the band has the ability to pull it off!
However it will be interesting to see them in the RAH, and will be a slightly different Muse experience. So I still envy those going!

I'm not too sure I agree with Citizen Deluded, sure I love their big, awe-inspiring epic shows, they're fantastic, but I remember seeing Muse WAAAAAY back before they got strongly into effects and they were still amazing, at the end of the day, it's the strength of the songs and the interaction with the audience that makes or breaks a gig, and I for one am excited to see if they can still pull that off and how epic songs from BHAR will work in a stripped down way..

Seriously, it's more reason for them to go all out and play older tracks.
The new album's been whored out so much, that I think it's pretty much impossible to win over any new fans with it. If they do want to win over new fans, then they should adapt their show to the RAH venue so it includes more darker, classical tracks so it appeals to the kind of people who usually goto the RAH.
If there's not a screen or anything aswell, then it's going to be harder to pull off the whole 'over the top, electronic' performance thing. Whereas an older, darker setlist will be a lot easier to pull off effectively.
And as for press, what's going to get more headlines: a standard setlist without a , or one which includes Megalomania on the organ and some new tracks.
If Muse want to be known as an innovative band with breathtaking live performances, they need to capatilise on this oppurtunity: not just play the same old stuff we've seen for 2 years.

you're spot on there. if this was an intimate gig for hardcore fans then yes, i'd expect loads of old stuff, rarities and some new tracks thrown in to test reactions. but this is a charity gig, they've been booked on the strength of the success of bh&r, it will be full of press, celebs, ppl connected with the charity etc. they'll be playing to the masses not for ppl like me who have seen them many times and want to see some old songs given a run out. so, stripped down yes, but still a standard set i reckon.
