At my school most people know about Muse, and like released tracks like Hysteria and Plug in Baby, but no-one likes them as much as me really.
There's this large indie music scene cropping up which annoys me too - people who like The Wombats or Babyshambles. I hate the latter band with a passion - absolute coked up rubbish is Babyshambles.

i avoid people who dont like me becuase i like to listen to muse. they're stupid and narrow minded people.
each to their own i say, even if i dont like thier music. But people at my school dont think like that, generally. it is a grammar school, which sucks too.

^^^Why would people hate you for listening to muse they cover tons of genre's thats why most people like them.
|
|

It's like that here too.
People judge you because of what music you're listening to.
Don't think it's anyone that HATES me because of it, but none here seem to like same kind of music as me, and many people thinks i'm stupid because I love muse

I don't know but it seems quite afew people do. People in my school know I like Muse, and are quick to make nasty jokes about them or their music if they want to piss me off. I don't know, people like that confuse me haha.

a reason why i think maby people cant accept them and like them is cause maby thier favorite band isnt like ya know the best in the world and like muse are i think the best band in the world, so jelousy?, and also yeah the narrow minded part too, and maby well this probably fits into the narrow minded part, but they like to stick to the status quo. i dont

Quote MusE3usM :
Well, here in America, Muse is like unknown. I hate that very few people have the same interest of music as me. People here are all into MCR, Underoath, Senses Fail, Taking Back Sunday, or bands of the such that just bang on drums and yell into microphones. Teenagers here dont find there music attractive. I think this shows that the vast majority of teenagers in America have a lower standard for the arts/music. Europe beats America in what is music and what isn't. And American teenagers just dont accept that their "music" is why us Americans are laughed at for our stupidity. I know it sounds weird to blame it on the music. But if one were to think about it, music affects the way us teenagers act. Music with little talent equals a teenager with little taste for arts and sometimes, education in a way. Call me an over-exaggerater, but this is the truth.
I completely agree with you!!

I would have agreed with you maybe two years ago, but i think things are changing. Muse is now relevant in America, they've sold out 20,000 person arenas, and the majority of the population will either know about SMBH, starlight, or KoC. While i think that our taste in music as a country is still significantly behind Europe's, i think that we are changing for the better. Alternative bands like Deathcab for cutie, mutemath, interpol, and of course Muse have been getting more and more popular by the year. You also have to look at how Daft punk has gone from kind of relevant to insanely popular in just one year, bringing other electronic acts like Justice success as well.
That being said, we americans still have a long way to go however.

They're amazing!
But, they have one fatal flaw.
They lack a certain something.
Genericness.

Quote [For a fact? Prove it.
Sure, it takes a certain amount of effort to find non-mainstream music - indie, foreign, classical, etc, but that doesn't make you smarter or better for putting in the effort. Most people are perfectly happy with what's on the radio, and that's nice for them. Different is different, it's neither inferior nor superior - you can't go around claiming to be better or more intelligent than other people just because you like different music./quote]
Ok. I'm not going out there to go take a poll or survey of people's music and in relation to their intelligence. I see that your from Ireland. Have you been in America? No, most people are not perfectly happy with what's on the radio. I don't go around claiming to be better than others because I listen to different music than them. Never did I even imply that. All I pointed out was the relationship between what music people listen to and then their intelligence. In America it's very obvious who listens to what simply by their dress. People who listen to rap tend to do not as well in school as those who listen to indie or songs that have lyrics with meanings behind them. Yeah, it's controversal, but it's still definitely true to an extent.

my friend who got me into Muse has now moved onto led zeppelin (not that they're a bad band). I went to my first (proper) concert last year PERTH!!!! it was great though the bloody barrier pissed me off (if any was there we were the nobs that had the circle and were yelling random comments out and putting condoms/ballons inbto the circle). no one at my school likes Muse as much as me i am a self confessed addict and have stopped talking about them as much as it started to piss people off. some of my friends like a few songs (starlight seems to be the one) but say the others lack bass. well Chris inspired me to start the bass (as different from acoustic/classical guitar which i stopped ages ago) and matt makes me want to play the guitar he seems to have so much fun on stage. uymm i wouldn't say that Muse is aiimed at teenagers but like most music teenagers pick it up and enjoy it. I also like the lyrics as they're deep and meeningful and have a different meaning whenever you listen to them.
Jump on my pleasure pill? YES PLEASE!!!!!!!
