One of the songs was called Fashionless wasn't it? I've heard a recording of that gig. What do you plan to do with the other tapes? Sell them or upload them?
EDIT: If you don't have any footage, do you have any pictures?

I recall you mentioning Fashionless before. If we could get some info on it from anyone (enough to prove that it really existed basically) then we can add it to Musewiki. That was the one consisting of Matt saying "bollocks" a lot, right?

I can’t actually prove its existence. My brother owned a recording of a gig Muse played in Camborne; I think the year was 1997, though it could have been as early as 1995. I didn’t care for Muse very much at the time, but the song Fashionless really stood out. I can only remember the chorus, which went something like
“Fashion, fashion, music, fashion
bollocks, bollocks, bollocks "
Being 13 at the time I thought some guy screaming “bollocks” repeatedly was genius. I wasn’t too fond of the other songs though, they sounded too much like Bleach era Nirvana.
Unfortunately my brother sold the tape to a mate for about £100 before I really got into Muse, and had the chance to give the tape a decent listen. I’ve asked him about the tape, he can only remember two other songs, “Backdoor” and “Jigsaw” (Which I assume is Jigsaw Memory.) though I can’t confirm if these did actually appear, but I don’t see any reason why he should lie about it.
Sorry, but that’s all the info I have. It’s all a bit sketchy; I think he sold it around the time OoS was released.

Sounds interesting nonetheless - if someone else can confirm that song then there's probably reason enough to add it. Shame the tape is gone though. Hopefully one day a bootleg like that will make it's way to the internet in full.

Thanks for the quick reply a-loonatic. Great to have a guy like you around here that knew muse since old times!
I really hope you can make that live available to the forum...Pre showbiz and showbiz era is my all time favourite!

Do you still know your brother's friend, and if he has the tape? It would be obscure to ask him considering it has been 10 years since the recording, but it's worth a shot.

Already tried, my brother hasn't had contact with him since he finished university. They went their separate ways. My brother has told me though, that if he ever meets this guy again, he will try to buy the tape back for me. Should I ever get my hands on the tape again, I will send it to Paul so he can make a high quality rip, I'm sure he would be more than willing. But I really doubt I will ever see the tape again.

hey rockfan!! thats awesome! i remember that song..the fashion fashion one....but not sure what the title was. i guess (fashionless)i wonder if that cambourne gig was recorded a few times..cos i use to have it, but pretty sure i discarded it ages ago...just remember muse dedicating one song to "phil" who was there early early manager, who really encouraged muse in the early days. and yes....seeing muse last year at wembly was real weird...last time i saw them was in exeter west point (which also was weird) cos before those times it was literally cavern, and small gigs round exeter, ashburton torquay, newton abbot etc.
some of my favourite gigs were muse and rootjoose (surfy cornish band) that was mental!!!
pretty amazing too see how a local band explode into one of the biggest rock bands on the scene...

Great stories a-loonatic! I think you're like me that prefer small gigs where you can also interact with the band! It would be great if photos of those early days were made...

That's awesome! I'm glad someone remembers the song! Sorry you lost the tape, it's a real shame.

My mind refuses to let you go

Well Paul has a live version of Host he said he would upload, (Not from this gig.) I asked him about it a few days ago, I still haven't heard from him.
