Alonso was actually the example I was lining up. When he was at Liverpool, he was one of the very few footballers who genuinely seemed like a nice guy, but in the recent Real Madrid games I've watched, he's evidentally become a twat.

Ronaldo is not motivated by greed, I don't get how you can call him an A-grade cunt for that.
He's not been a mercinary touting his skills to any club who'll want him to get him or his agent a new pay boost ala Tevez or Anelka.
He might have attitude issues, be petulant, diving etc.
But he went to United to become the best player in the world and he always made it clear he wanted to play at Madrid. He is motivated by his own ambition to be the best player and play at the best clubs. The fact he can also get the best wages was incidental to that, he was not motivated by money at OT or Madrid.
The Tevez criteria is the clear motivated by greed, although that's more because he's Kia's bitch. The agent wants his 2yearly bonus, so either gets a new contract or moves clubs, all at the behest of the agent.
Anelka is just a mercinary and goes to whereever pay him the most money.
