I don't understand all the Man City hate, obviously United fans will hate them, which is fair enough, but everyone else just seems to be a bit jealous of them. They've never really actively pissed me off, whereas United and Chelsea both have time and time again.
Because they don't deserve any success. They are getting it the 'cheap' way (ironically) by just buying everyone good and expecting everything to go their way. There's no team spirit about them, it's just a bunch of vastly overpaid mercenaries.
At least when Chelsea did it they were already on their way up (and until deadline day hadn't spent that much over the past 2 years or so). City have bought their way from nothing. On a wider scale it's ruining football because more and more players expect to be paid more, and clubs will demand more for said players.
Sure everyone else spends money too, but there's always a core team present. I'm sure if Mancini could of, he'd have bought 25 brand new players and registered them. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if that was their original goal.
Exactly. Man City are the epitome of everything wrong with modern football. They're causing massive inflation on player prices and wages as well. If they weren't buying average players for ridiculously large amounts of money, people wouldn't bomb out transfer sums like £35m for Carroll and £50m for Torres. Same goes for Real Madrid, to be honest.
Small change got rained on with his own thirty-eight, and nobody flinched, down by the arcade.

Man City have been to the arse end of the football league and fought their way back whilst still getting attendances of 40k+. They have the loyalist fans you'll ever find (can't be said for Uniteds prawn sandwich brigade) who have put up with 35 years of shite. If anyone deserves some success and to ruin football it's them.

You can't say they deserve it when you look at the sheer magnitude of the shit they've done to the game though. Not even the lowest, poorest of clubs deserves that.

Hahahaha! What a load of shite! awwwww you spent a couple of years outside the 1st divison....what so we should hand you the Premier League and give you a endless transfer budget?
City are a small club and always will be. Their loads of great clubs that deserve success more than City. You don't deserve fuckall. Just because you got relegated you think you should? What about Leeds? They were a top club, challenging for the Prem and now look where they are.....in the shit! Leeds deserve to be in the Prem, not City.
Loyalist fans? LOL! I know quite a thew people that have jumped on the Man City banwagon since the takeover. Yeah fair does the majourity of Old Trafford isin't great (except in big games) but our away fans (the hardcore fans) are as good as anyone. And yet again the likes of Newcastle, West Ham.......much more loyal to thier club than City fans.

I'm not bothered about Man City buying their way to success. Gives me another five star team to pick from in Fifa.
Good result/performance from Celtic today, in utterly horrid conditions.
I've also got a question for you English folk... my dad and I were talking about Chris Sutton and Alan Thompson (Celtic players until about five/six years ago) and how they were never given a chance for England, despite being two of the best players in the SPL. Why is that? Chris Sutton impressed in several positions (he played as a striker, midfielder several times and defender several times) in his time at Celtic and only managed one cap, won while he was at Blackburn. He regularly scored and played brilliantly in the Champions League and the Uefa Cup, so why is it that England managers refuse to even glance north of the border when they're picking their squads?
Same goes for Alan Thompson- he had a left foot to die for, regularly pegging in free kicks and swinging in wonderful crosses, not to mention he was one of the best passers of the ball I've ever seen, genuinely. And he was only capped once, in a friendly against Sweden, and that was probably due to everyone in the media screaming for him to be picked after his performances for Celtic in the previous few years.
It's something that has always annoyed me and I wondered what everyone's take on it is.

That's Chelsea out of the title race. Can't see them overturning 12 points.
As for Man City, yes, they are ruining the game for the points listed above, and to justify it by saying "they deserve it" is a terrible thing to say. It's thanks to City, and Chelsea, we're seeing outrageous prices for average players. They just bully other clubs out of buying players by bidding more and offering higher wages, and for what? 18 months on the bench before they go out on loan and by that time, some new potential starlet has arrived and the whole thing happens again. At least clubs like United spend their money because they built it (like investing in youth development). Sure, United paid large sums for Rooney and Ferdinand, but what's wrong with that? Besides, paying large sums of money like that are usually once in every window on an area which is needed, their money was justified because it was earned from success.. City are the complete opposite. Clubs like Chelsea and City think they can buy history and the title. And lets be honest, when their owners become bored and fuck off, it will be satisfying to watch them crash and burn. As for their fans? Fucking hell, City's fans are more fickle than anyone else's lot. They boo when things don't go their way, and are always first to stick the boot in when someone is down. City are ruining football, and watching them fail miserably to get any kind of silverware is pretty hilarious.

I've always found Scottish football to be average at best. It's gotten slowly better lately but it's not great compared to English leagues. I think its because they're good players in average sides, in the same way Adam is for Blackpool. Sutton, however, was a quality player, right about that.

While the standard is undoubtedly lower than Spain, England, Italy etc (smaller country, less big clubs = less money), the football played up here is better than most give it credit for. Obviously Celtic and Rangers dominate, that's part of being the massive clubs that they are, but contrary to English belief, other teams do play good football. Hearts at the moment, for example, are playing some very nice football, and Dundee United the other day were playing some pretty good stuff against Celtic.
I actually facepalmed the other week when I read the Guardian's coverage of the Old Firm game. The reporter said something like 'they look like a couple of decent Championship teams, judging by the line ups', and I couldn't help but laugh. If we were only Championship standard, would we be going on fairly lengthy European runs every few years? No. Celtic reached the UEFA Cup final in 2003 (beating Blackburn and Liverpool in the process), only to be beaten narrowly by a cheating but very good Porto side, who went on to win the Champions League the next season. Rangers reached the UEFA Cup final in 2008 as well, beating some good sides and only losing out to a quality Zenit St. Petersburg team. Both Old Firm teams have qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League several times in recent years, only to be undone by the seeding system which inevitably lands us with teams like Man Utd and Barcelona.
In my mind, there's no doubt that the Old Firm clubs would both compete for a top half place in the Premiership within a year or two of joining, and then on to European places within 5, and Champions League football within 10. Such is the stature of both clubs and their financial potential.
To be fair, a lot of English fans don't get the chance to see teams other than Celtic or Rangers, simply because it's only Celtic and Rangers games on the television - usually ending up in victory for the big two. But I watch plenty of highlights, cup games and whatever other games are shown on the TV not featuring the Old Firm, and I see some good football being played. Just look at how many players from around the world come to Scotland thinking it'll be a breeze, and come away saying how good it is technically, and how good you need to be mentally and physically to be successful. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of drab, lifeless matches up here. It's part of playing in Scotland - small crowds, shite weather, crappy playing surfaces... but all of that is unavoidable, really.
In fact, I'd be willing to bet money that if you took someone like Frank Lampard or Paul Scholes, and planted them in the middle of the SPL for a couple of games, they'd float around not knowing what hit them. You get no time to fuck around up here, you're being closed down the moment you get the ball and you'll be tackled hard if you don't get a pass away. When I watch the Premiership and La Liga, I never fail to be amazed at how much time players get on the ball. These teams should be playing amazing football, they've got that much time to do it. And yet I still tune in to watch Fulham vs Chelsea, and sit shaking my head for 90 minutes. They have all these quality players, and all they do is huff and puff until the final fucking whistle. It's pathetic.
Yeah I rambled on a bit there. But it frustrates me how everyone just assumes the SPL is just some shite league with no quality.

I fuckin hate Gattuso! One horrible little basterd. A childish, disgrace of a footballer. Well played Spurs!! Pretty much owned the best Serie A has to offer. Milan will get fucked in the second leg with Bale back aswell. What a great defensive performance (which is rare from Tottenham), Crouch and Lennon had very good games. Milan's defense couldn't cope with them.

To be fair to Gattuso, he's come out and said he was in the wrong.
"I lost control," said Gattuso, who had earlier pushed Jordan in the face. "There is no excuse for what I did. I take my responsibilities for that."
Obviously there's no excuse, but sometimes people get caught up in the heat of the moment. He's a fiery character as it is, without losing and getting into an argument with a big Scottish guy.
That said, he should still get a ban. One or two games would suffice, I think.

I like Gatusso.
Furthermore, I think Gatusso would fuck Jordan up and he was being a cunt also.
Spurs were overly defensive in the game, it worked, but they had a real chance to put a few past a Milan team who seemed to play the worst they've done this season. Fair play though.
2nd leg will be interesting.

You beat them at home last season? And im not assed what people say about the away leg, Arsenal were missing Van Persie, Fabregas, Arshavin, Gallas and Vermealen. Those 4 goals were just all down to Messi. Hopefully you'll learn to mark him this time, and you even took the lead in that game!
