This Torres deal has been touted for ages...since last summer. You don't honestly think it just happened out of nowhere two days ago.
They'll have had plans in place, i.e. Suarez, but this Carroll purchase is a Fiasco as it's just too much, could have been a nice bit of business. But you've been mugged.

Also, I'm not saying Liverpool will make profit on Andy Carrol, but if he plays at least like he's been playing (something Liverpool is expecting, obviously) they won't have trouble selling him for, at least, 15 or 20 million in the future, making it not that much of an investment in long term. And there's always the possibility that he turns into something really good. But I still agree that it's too much. 20 million would be the absolute most for him.

I'm just annoyed at his behaviour in general. The fact that his form got better over the past few weeks was probably down to him setting the wheels in motion for forcing a move, and fair enough if he wants to leave but to hand in a transfer request out of the blue 3 days before the deadline is unfair on the club, especially since we rely so heavily on him. I think we'd have made a move for Carroll in the summer anyway, it's just we're now forced to bank on a heavily inflated fee and take a huge gamble on that amount of money.
Plus he's going to a rival, show's a lot about team dedication. "His armband lied, he's not a red, Torres, Torres..."

Or his form just got better? He was less injured etc...but it's probably in part to do with that. On the dedication, what'd you expect? He's Spanish (granted there's plenty of reds over there :P). He's an Athletico boy, that's the only side he'll ever have a true allegiance to.

He was offered to Tottenham for around 12 million Euros in the summer, but they bought VDV instead and decided he was abit too much of a livewire.
