Honestly. Red Sox seem like a club thats actually run by clever people. I think it would be a good thing for Liverpool.

Aye, their owner got voted the best owner in MLB. And our current owner got voted the second worst :P

Also, that story I posted on the other page about the points deduction? BBC have taken it down because it's so wrong. Links to a different story now, just shows how the media love to exaggerate things and dont do actual research before posting things

It was previously thought the penalty would not be imposed because Liverpool's holding company, owned jointly by the Americans Tom Hicks and George Gillett, would be the one defaulting on the £237m owed to RBS, rather than the club. However it emerged today that the Premier League's chief executive, Richard Scudamore, believes that according to the league's rules the holding company's administration cannot be entirely separated from the club, and the nine-point penalty would apply.

Internationals are tiresome, all you end up doing is hoping you don't lose any of your players to injury. I guess there is a point to it all but I really don't care.

And yeah looks like you could be up for the 9 points after all

I'd rather take the deduction if it means finally having those pricks out. Plus its good to have it now and be stuck at the bottom than, say, in March.

The only reason Hicks will appeal is out of spite too, since he knows he has virtually no chance of winning. I actually despise the man.

You get the reduction I'd say you will really struggle this season. Your team is lets be frank wank atm. You had Gerrard and Torres carrying you last season and it seems like Torres can't be arsed this year. Even if you get taken over the January window is never any good you might get one good player in if your lucky but I really doubt you'll get the talent in at that time to help you.

Despite being overshadowed by Scouse take over shit, nice to see United make record income figures and still manage to make a fucking massive loss due to the refinancing, PiKs and interest, lovely.

What's people's take on this 2nd Asian bid? The guy apparently has millions to spend on transfers, but is this Hicks & Gillette 2?

I still prefer NESV, sounds more promising.

I hope neither and they take you down kicking and screaming, the club may then realise they're not special, have no divine right to be near the top of the league and oh yeah, the shits and giggles.
(Yes I'm aware United also have no divine right, we're fucked eventually and it's gonna hit us, hard, but I just hate Liverpool, so I'll take these little bits of joy as I stare into the impending Black Hole that is Uniteds financial structure).
Also they'll all end up being as bad as each other in the end.

I'd rather we didn't end up buying our way to the title. Roy would have no clue what to do with all the money anyway, he'd still spend it on average players.

Some interesting points going on in the court by the sounds of it.

Mills Financial put in a bid too, but I won't touch them with a barge pole since they own Gillett's share!

All we need is for Scotland to completely fuck up in the last few minutes against Spain, then we'll have a full complement of humiliating Home Nations results.

No humiliation there. A very good performance, marred by one lapse in concentration allowing the 3rd in. Deserved more, but they can be proud of that performance tonight.

England on the other hand...

I did say completely fuck up. For most sides, losing 3-2 to the world champions is a very good result.

Having a goalless draw with a team whose talisman play celebrates by removing his shorts, who wasn't even playing tonight, is humiliating.

Nearly a Home Nationslol case tonight.

Yup. I thought we were unlucky not to take a point, but Spain's quality just shone through. Some of the passing was just... amazing, and that cross for the third goal was perfect, even if McManus probably should've gotten to it.

But, I'm taking heart from the performance. It just shows that we don't need to be playing 4-6-0 formations and defend like out lives depended on it. If Scotland go out and give it a go, play positive football and just make the effort, we'll give anyone a run for their money. Anyone.

Aww man, incredibly gutted after the match last night. We came oh so damn close. Really proud of how we played though, as said before, proves that we don't have to play 4-6-0 to get a result.

As for the Liverpool result, HUZZAH!!

Secretly pleased about Liverpool today. Would be a major shame to have seen them do a Leeds.
