Rofl Messi.

I don't think he'd do too well in the Premiership tbh, he'd get knocked about too much.

I also can't believe i'm going to say this, but I sort of hope United get through tonight (tomorrow night, whatever) purely because I don't want to see all the English clubs out.

I was kind of annoyed about it. But I can accept it - it's Messi! I did feel sorry for the Gunners players though...

Messi would suck badly at the Premiership. Just look at Robinho, in La Liga he was probably the best player after Ronaldinho at his time, when he moved to City he turned into shit. Yeah, Messi is better than robinho, but against the tough English defenses he will disappear.
Barca played quiet poorly, like almost every week in La Liga, but Messi saved them with a great performance. They are actually quiet nothing without him this year.

Are you having a giraffe? They passed arsenal to death, they didn't need to score, and Xavi was superb, his vision and retention of the ball was amazing, look at his stats, it was something like 95/105 passes to person, the closest arsenal player was nasri 20/31. He dominated. Their only weakness at the moment is a slightly shaky defence, but with messi and xavi et al and bearing in mind they had no puyol or ibrahimovic...they're definately not lost without him, he's a massive driving force, but the whole team oozes class.

Have you seen one chance not by Messi? Sure their midfielders dominated the game as usual, I meant the attack. Not one chance by Bojan, Pedro or Xavi (that did good defensive work, but infront of Busqets, Keita and Toure, 3 tough defensive midfielders, surely you must expect at least one good attack from him).

Agreed and this chatter about him failing in the premiership...he's that good, i don't think it'd be a problem, ronaldo was fine here.
Also as much better he is than berbatov, messi doesn't exactly put in the legwork all the time and i still wouldn't compain if i had him. The theory that running about like a headless chicken is some measure of a player, especially in the eyes of plenty of reds at the moment, pisses me off, and clearly messi wouldn't be a player for them?
Not a messi berb comparison though Messi>Berbatov, Rooney and Ronaldo and anyone else in the world at the moment.

This. No-one comes close to being at his level. And before anyone says 'but what about Ronaldo?' - Messi is miles better. Ronaldo is probably a distant second.

I think Barcelona as a team are the best in the world purely because of their awareness. The players will move waaay out of position just to close the ball down, because they're that confident and aware of what is going on all over the pitch. Any other team who does that just gets slaughtered.

Plus they just have a brilliant perception of the game. They're a bit like Arsenal in a way - their ethic is to play attractive football. Obviously their football is just better and they're much more successful, haha. Then again, their team consists of many of the world's best players, so y'know.

I'd say he is. Rooney, Ronaldo, Fabregas, etc... all world class - but there's Messi is in a league of his own.

Rooney is one of the best in the world. Messi is a long way ahead of Ronaldo, then comes Torres, Rooney, Drogba. Anyone who believes someone who isn't Messi to be the best in the world needs to see a doctor.
