Go Riera!
Really? Personally I think he's mentioned it at the worst possible time, right before a crucial game. He could have at least waited until tomorrow.
Or better yet, after this weekend.
There's already enough pressure on Rafa, if we lose tonight and at the weekend, I might actually start to feel sorry for him.

Can't believe some united fans claim Rooney is the best player in the world when all you need to do is look at Messi for 5 mins to see he's nowhere near.
I'd say he's become one of the best strikers in the world. Not the best, but one of the best. I don't think he's anywhere near the standards of players like Ronaldo, Messi or Ibrahimovic though.
Small change got rained on with his own thirty-eight, and nobody flinched, down by the arcade.

You know what bugs me about that statement, the fact it isn't United fans in general that are claiming that, its the press and other sets of supporters. Why does it worry you so much anyway.

Yesterday, I wasn't for one moment saying that United were favourites. On their day, with Rooney leading the line, United would still fall short of beating Barca. So our only hope is that someone else pulls off a shock result and then, providing Rooney stays fit, United have a decent shot at winning.

Rooney, playing like he his, is easily one of the top players in the World. I'd place him even higher than Ibrahimovic. Torres and Rooney are probably the best strikers right now, and overall, only Messi and Ronaldo are far superior to Rooney. You could add Iniesta and Xavi, maybe.

I said earlier today to someone Fulham will win 3-1 but lose on penalties. Wish that match was on tv, im stuck with the Liege one.

Bloody hell, come on Fulham.
I still expect 4-2...

Cracking win by fulham. Absolutely destroyed Juve, they really played well, even if they were playing against ten men, nine at the end.
Come on Lille :P. I retrack my waiter comment, his sacking clause is rumoured to be £12million, paid within 24 hours :P. If that's true, what the fuck.

Seriously, Rooney is great at shooting, but is nowhere near as creative as Ibra.

Yeah, Ibrahimovic is pretty good and creative, but as a striker, I'd take Rooney or Torres over him right now.

Ibrahimovic better than Rooney ? I'd much prefer any of the top prem strikers like Torres, Rooney, Drogba and even Van Persie to Ibrahimovic. Barca arn't as good as they were last season they were much better off with Eto'o he suited there play alot more they're play doesn't flow aswell as last season and thats all because of Ibrahimovic. Plus the £60 something million they spent on him.

Seriously, am I the only person here who thinks Ibrahimovic is one of the best, if not THE best striker in the world right now? Ronaldo and Messi are better players generally, and probably even better at scoring than he is, but they're technically not really strikers... and Van Persie and Drogba don't even come close (well, the latter maybe, but certainly not the former).
Anyway:

In addition, I think he's good because he plays with some style. Okay, if you stick Rooney on you're pretty much guaranteed to get an amazing goal, or a goal which will make you go 'how the HELL did he do that?' (like his second goal in the first leg against Milan). But none of it is pretty. And from all of the matches I've seen him play in, he doesn't do anything hugely creative like Ibra does in the videos I've posted.
He is certainly one of the best strikers in the world, but nowhere near one of the best general players. And he's nowhere near Ibrahimovic.

Well, of course, if we want to go by technic and beauty, Ibrahimovic beats them all. But Rooney has been a machine, lately. Last year I wouldn't say this, but this season he's pretty spectacular.

Some good news. Owen Hargreaves played 45 minutes for Manchester United reserves earlier, in his first appearance since September 2008 after a long injury lay-off. United's second string beat Burnley 2-0 and Hargreaves suffered no after-effects.

So he can showboat? That solo goal is amazing yes but it was years ago for Ajax and in most likely and easy game so i still don't think he's as good as Rooney and he's nowhere near rooney in a all round general player way.
Good news for Hargreaves and what a result for Fulham.

I'm not talking about showboating. I'm talking about being creative. I much prefer attractive football which has been put together brilliantly to the English way of playing football. That's probably why I find watching games in England boring, generally. I care about the results because the ups and downs are pretty fun, but come on, you don't often see teams like Barca booting the ball upfield from the defence, do you? Managers here like to tell their players to 'just get it out' and to play plain, straight-forward football. Unfortunately, people mistake true creativity for being cocky and showboating.
What I'm saying is, Rooney fits into the English way of playing football perfectly. He's good (and as I said, he can score some amazing goals) but his game is very straight forward. If you refer to my post above, he has nowhere near the level of skill Ibrahimovic has. And those videos prove it. You could spend hours looking through all of the videos of Ibra's skills and examples of his flair and creativity. But you couldn't with Rooney. He's a goalscorer.
About him being nowhere near Rooney in a general way: are you actually joking? I'm guessing you're just saying that because of the bias of being a United fan. Either that, or you need to do a bit of research on Ibrahimovic.
Anyway, Duarte, I guess you're right. Right now, Rooney is a much better goalscorer. But I'm standing by my opinion that he is miles behind Ibrahimovic in terms of skill and creativity.

Unbelieveable result for Fulham...they truly can do anything in the Europa League after knocking out the holders Shaktar and now Juve of all teams! Fulham to win it!

Im saying i think Rooney is better as a general player because of his work rate and everything els he gives to a team other than a load of goals and i find english football much better than any other because of the high pace and unpredicability but yeah were two diffent people so fair enough

My word, Lucas actually played very well tonight, he looked good going forward, so hopefully Rafa will never play him as a holding midfielder ever again.
But the real stars tonight were Fulham, of course, massive props to them.

Lyon v Bordeaux 1
United v Bayern 2
Arsenal v Barca 3
Inter v CSKA 4
Semis
2 v 1
4v 3
Lets not get ahead of ourselves but United have the easier run by far, Bayern are a good team and will be hard to beat, but i don't think any body would rather play Inter or Barca if they could choose Bayern. Having said that i probably would rather get Barca now than in the final so Arsenal might just be in with a shot if they play the way they can both legs.
Lyon/Bordeaux should be a big match too and on the bright side at least one French team will make the semis.
Now we just got to wait for Thursday nights, Channel 5.

Good. 4 of those teams shouldn't even be there but FIFA have a habit of rewarding mediocrity.
