Cheers Jarrod . I think you can have him for this tournament if in autumn he will return to Russia. Guus is good specialist and if he will miss World Cup it will be disappointment.

People will hate me for saying this, but in a way, he's right. A lot of the time when the ball is handled in football, it's just the player reacting instinctively as a desperate way of controlling the ball. I'm not defending Henry or saying it was justified, but I doubt he really had much time to think about it. He just did it and played on, letting Gallas score. It was unfair and really hard on Ireland, but there is nothing else that would've been running through his mind other than controlling the ball in whatever way possible. It's not like he was thinking in his mind, 'okay, if it starts to go out, I'll catch it so that it doesn't'... a lot of players do it, but it just happened to be in a dangerous position, and unfortunately it led to a goal.
Small change got rained on with his own thirty-eight, and nobody flinched, down by the arcade.

He's been playing professional football for 15 years and playing it at a very high standard, no-one at that level should be using their hands to control the ball. It's not instinctive, it's cheating. There's no way you can back him up, he cheated and resulted in the worst team winning. He definitely deserves to be banned for a few games at the World Cup, but no doubt FIFA will happily bottle it and fine Ireland for making completely fair comments.

They'll probably hardly do anything in the World Cup anyway. And that doesn't make sense to me, because they've got some great individual players, but they just can't play well together. They'll get knocked out easily.

Mmmm, yeah. Robbie Keane had some pretty brass words to say about FIFA and Blatter which I totally agree with, but they will probably come down on him hard as suspected.
Anyway, Henry did cheat though, the ball was going out of play, he miscontrolled it. The first one maybe was instinctive but the second touch was definitely not. The whole scenario smacks of 1986 too, nothing will come of it. It doesn't quite hold as much significance but it will be mentioned every time France play Ireland.

How could one player laugh and make jokes about it (see the Sky Sports News one) and be okay with it? I never saw this unsportsmanship in his Arsenal days, being at Barca has changed him. Henry was one of the greats when it came to the prem. As a Liverpool supporter I always had a certain "hatred" for him but I always respected and admired his ability. Last night was a sad night, not only for us Irish, but for football in general.

1. St Patrick was Welsh and was a slave brought over to Ireland pre-British colonialism.
2. Ireland was part of the British Empire, as was the origins of the US, Canada, Australia, India, alot of the far east and Philipiannes and about 50% of the world's landmass at one point, so technically, they're all British by your standards.
3. Football was invented during the Industrial Revolution, circa 18th to 19th century and was made popular all across Europe and then the world, not just Ireland. Traditional Irish sports have always remained equally popular within Ireland, but obviously there's no international recognition of this.
4. British power style? This just doesn't make sense.
Please do the research before calling Ireland British. I've nothing against England, or Britain or whatever you want to call it, but stop being daft. It's idiotic and misinformed.
