I can see why some agree with the rule that put Greece through instead of Russia, but I just don't like it. It favours Greece's tactic of stubborn defending and hoping to score a scrappy goal on the break. It also punishes teams that may have had one unlucky/bad game, or were just resting their best players, but were amazing every single other game.
Also, this is a sport where games can be won or lost by incorrect calls from one referee or assistant. Taking an overview of games (i.e. goal difference) just seems better.
If somehow we get Greece vs Czech Republic in the final and its a draw after 90 mins, we should just say that the Czech Republic win on their head-to-head track record with Greece. That would be better than penalties anyway... I agree that finals should not be decided that way! PLAY TO THE DEATH if anything, like tennis.

Spain played a surprisingly weak game today. But Italy played rather well, I'm glad they won! Croatia deserved a spot too though, I think.
I think Balotelli has been pretty weak in this tournament, but did alright this game with that nice goal to put Italy up 2-0. The fact that he's been faced with racial abuse is absolutely disgusting. I thought fans were past that by now.

This is true also, Italy are worse though.
Pirlo's dive after he kicked (Whelan?) to get play stopped after 20 odd minutes being a prime example. Hence my comment last night.
Fact is Bosnia are suspended from International football because they have 3 presidents, Nigeria and Kenya because their governments got involved in the ruling of football.
Yet Italy who for the last 20 years have repeatedly brought the game into disrepute with their constant match fixing scandals which I'm sure most would consider a worse crime against football than having 3 presidents running your federation.
Have you even seen how massive this recent scandal has been?
The amount of clubs, players, former players etc involved has gone to show that they simply cannot fix this problem internally. The past happenings have not been any sort of deterrant, many a nation would of been suspended by now and that's what I'm calling for.
A four year ban from international and european club competition.
Not to mention they also play like a bunch of lowly diving dogs.

Italy aren't as bad as people say they are. Every team dives, cheats, whatever you want to call it. Every team has those few players that are just little shitheads who ruin the game for everyone.
In the Italy vs Croatia game, Croatia spent sooo much time on the floor, wasting so much time due to their players being "hurt" and whatnot. Not saying that Italy didn't either, but it's part of the game.
Every team does it. Italian players are fucked up, yes. But so is every other team's players. You can't watch a single game anymore without at least one person diving. If you've seen a game during this Euro tournament without diving, I'd be interested to see that.
The whole match fixing scandal thing is only in within their own country with their own league. Not on an international level, I don't think they'd be able to get away with that. The Italians didn't necessarily accuse Spain and Croatia of match fixing, I think the media really built that one up on their own and kinda threw the Italians under the bus.

I was talking about the match fixing and racism, not being a miserable twat on the pitch, as you say, alot of people do it.
It's the off pitch stuff that makes me despair. Match fixing, agents, FIFA and UEFA policy, Blatter and Platini, all the corruption, sugar daddy owners and thieving owners draining clubs, racism (and the inaction to it). Etc Etc.
Abit of diving is about as far down my list of concerns as how well England do in this tournament (see. I barely give a shiney silver shit).

Well I really don't know what to say. Didn't think we'd get through the group let alone win it. Seems to be a tournament where negative solid football is prevailing with the exception of Spain. Was a shit performance and we got lucky with a deflection that happened to land on Rooney's head. Still think Italy will do us but we're over achieving even just qualifying from the group so anything more is a bonus.
