Cahill the next player to be ruled out with injury. So which player has he called up to replace him? Oh of course Martin Kelly who has made 10 appearances all season for a poor Liverpool team
It really does get worse and worse by the day.
Gutted for Cahill. Really like him, he's top player and would of been his first tournement. Now another Liverpool player gets called up in the shape of Martin Kelly as Rio Ferdinand & Micha Richards sit at home It's fucking laughable. Now, I quite like Kelly, but he's played a hand full of games man It just all comes down to Woy's piss poor sqaud selection.

I don't understand it. There are so many other proven players out there. I completely agree with Jamie.
After this tournament, England needed to pick a squad, and just develop from there. Spain, Germany and Holland have all done it. That's why they are the favourites. They are a TEAM. England is just a collection of players, strung together at the last minute and put on a pitch. It's laughable to suggest that "this will be our year" because there's no structure to the team.
Take the pieces and build them skywards.

So to summarize:
We have Downing no goals no assists and missed a pen v Chelsea
Henderson who has scored 8 goals in 120 games to replace a goal scoring midfielder
a right back with less than 30 premier league games to replace a centre half
and Andy Carroll who has scored 4 goal in 35 appearances
I really do fucking despair. I never expected us to win the tournament but the very least I expected was the manager to pick the best players we had.

Does any other nation even have half the injury list we have? And let's face, another one is bound to get injured during the tournement aswell, most likely Parker. And this is nothing new. Do you think it's coincidence that England always get crippled with injuires days before a major tournement? When are the FA gonna change our schedule and start having a winter break like everyother country on the fucking planet?

I actually went to the game and learned a good few things.
a) England play the most boring football ever. Belgium's pass and go was immense to watch, Hazard was a no show. Mertens is a bastard for shoving Cahill like that.
b) There are some big bellend England supporters, screaming and swearing and then criticising the team with colourful language.
c) Ashley Young is useless, Defoe and Welbeck to start for me.
Also is Adam Johnson in the squad??
Love is a shadow in the brightness it dies.
I want to scream one last death medley.

Yeah Hazard did fuck all. And it was terrible way to get injured, paticually in a friendly aswell.

You mean the player who has scored 4 in his last 5 England games and got the assist last night?

I was thinking how would a team of the rejected/injured players do against the current team going to the Euros and came up with this:
---------------------Foster------------------------
Richards -- Dawson --- Ferdinand --- Gibbs
--------------Carrick ---- Wilshere---------------
Lennon ---------- Lampard------- Johnson-----
--------------------Sturridge----------------------
Could also have included Crouch and Holt in that line up as well and probably some others I can't remember.
|
|
|
Why would you want Holt?!!?
Small change got rained on with his own thirty-eight, and nobody flinched, down by the arcade.
|
|
|
Because he scored 15 goals this season? That's 6 more than Welbeck , 4 more than Defoe and 11 more than Carroll yet they are going to the Euros.

You've got a good point.
And you could also add Cahill, Barry, Smalling, Bent, Cleverley...
On current form I'd have that Midfield ^^ over the actual England one any day. I like Parker and Gerrard is absolute quality, but as I said, on current form; Gerrard hasn't had the best of seasons.
I've said this for ages now, Midfielders like Carrick, Wilshere & Cleverley are the way to go. Great technical players who can play proper football. Unfortunately we've lost the only one who's strong in defence in Carrick, but hopefully Rodwell will become a top player in a few years time and take up that CDM role.

It's fucking football, if you don't like people in the stands swearing go and watch polo or something.
Now onto more pressing matters.
We actually signed Kagawa. This is excellent. He's an amazing player. Also scored 16 goals, despite missing half a season. Buying on of the back to back German Champion's most promising players is good.
However we need a couple more signings, especially considering Chelsea singing Marin, Hulk and Hazard. Still think we lack a player in the M'vila/Tiote mould. Also would like a left back. Although I don't rate Baines as highly as the rest of England seem to.
As for how we afford it all. Not letting the doom in me think about that right now.

Fantastic!
I don't know fuck all about Kagawa, so I'll have to take your word Tom, and the majority of other United fans saying he's quality. I checked a couple of videos out on Youtube and he looks good.
I agree, I'd like a Tiote. And if we could get Fletcher back to full fitness, we'd have a fairly decent defensive Midfield.
Marin & Hazard are very 50/50 to me, if they're gonna do well or not. Hulk will do well; got the strength and pace for Premier League, however in saying that he is Brazilian so you never know. Could be a flop.

You should watch the German league more, bloody exciting.
He's banged in 15+ goals this season, despite being missing for half of it through injury and bagged a fair few vital goals too. Lovely, creative little player. Puts in a shift aswell.
Does sugggest based on his Dortmund role we'll play a 4-2-3-1 with Kagawa and a 2 of the Nani/Young/Valencia combination as wingers. With Carrick/Scholes/Giggs/Cleverly as a midfield two behind. He's not really a box to box midfielder.
Though if a winger gets injured, he can play as a wide man, drop Rooney back to the Kagawa role, shove Welbeck/Pea upfront.
Gives some flexibility.
Fletcher will never return to his beat, he's probably shat fifty times his body weight in the last two years, poor bloke :/.

Don't have ESPN mate , and my computer is so shit there is no way I could stream it. Maybe I should try and catch it on EuroSport or something...
Sounds good! Got a load of assists too. Always useful to have a versatile player in your ranks, and that on top of the fact he's young, got a great goal record, creative and works hard. Sounds like a top player. Only cost us £15M aswell. Seems like a great price!
Just one thing though....it was just a one off injury wasn't it? Not injury prone is he?
Losing Fletcher would be a massive blow. Great all round Midfielder and is as loyal and professional as they come. Former England Rugby captain, Lewis Moody had the same condition, yet recoved and went on to captain his country at the very highest level. So fingers crossed for Fletch.

I was just looking at the Euro 2012 fixtures and noticed how England are currently top of their group on alphabetical order. I don't know why I found that so funny... maybe because I'm not optimistic about them even passing the group stage.
After the first set of games I'll decide whether I want to stay with my current favourites of Germany, or switch to some other underdog like Greece for the lolz.

Imagine that being shouted every 30 seconds or so about different players, begging the question what the fuck are people like that doing at football matches?
Get behind the team, needless to say about 4 of them were ejected after one of them shouted something racist in regards to Ashley Cole. The pure audacity that people think its fine for people to behave in such a dick like way just sums up what is wrong about some support England is given.
Anyway, Russia were epic! Dzagoev is still so young and he plays with the same passion he plays with for CSKA. Hope they get far!

At no point did I say it was the "best" way, merely that it's common place in football.
Many people do swear, especially at football, for some people it denotes part of their passion. It's a way for certain people to express their feelings, it's not entirely meaningless in the correct context. Nor would calling me a cunt be, in correct circumstances.
You think I'd ever want rid of the vulgar chants which have swearing in? Or that the game should be completely sanitised by the removal of everyone who has the "audacity" of anyone who swears? No.
They're at football matches because they want to be, it has always been the game of the working classes, (however the increase in price is pricing many out now...)
“Our football belongs to the working class and has the size, nobility and generosity to allow everyone to enjoy it as a spectacle.” - Cesar Luis Menotti
or
“Football is working class ballet.” - Alf Garnett
Also not to mention the fact plenty of players, are, in actual fact, fucking cunts; racist, adultering, spoilt, greedy, obnoxious cunts. But that's by the bye.
The racist abuse if different, unacceptable and you know full well I wasn't condoning that. It's just that swearing is part of life and in a football crowd it's common.

Correct. Four great teams, two shit games. Now it might be a case of first game-syndrome, but I really hope the standard of football improves or it will be South Africa again, but with racism and Nazis.
Fifa have already opened up disciplinary action against Russia after 4 stuards were taken to hospital from getting the shit kicked out of them by 15-20 Russian supporters.
This really has potential to be the worst tournament ever. Although it will take some doing to take that crown off South Africa 2010.

Four shit games? One spectacle, one rampant performance, one major upset and, agreed, one disappointing game. You can criticize everything around and about the tournament so far, but certainly not the standard of football?!? To give an example close to your heart/house, it took Man U exactly 45 minutes before showing interest in one of the players who would obviously improve their standard of football.
Edit: It could really be the tournament of prospects and youth, with superb performances from Lewandowski, Dzagoev, Pilar, Willems and Hummels already. And it's a shame Löw lives in Beckenbauer's arse, or Reus, Götze and other German talents who refused offers from Bayern might have the same shot at instant success.
Edit 2: And it already looks, perhaps already is better than South Africa.

Shit sorry, I meant four great teams, 2 shit games. (referring to Holland vs Denmark & Germany Portugal. I'll edit now. Yesterday's games were pretty decent.
Holland were terrible today and Portugal's tatics are pathetic. They've played that way for the last 4 years now and have achieved nothing. They showed what they can do in the last 15 minutes today. They have such great flair with Ronaldo & Nani. Why put that to waste? On top of that, it's just boreing. Sort it out.
