respect to all you dt fans. home is the best song ever. also the dance of eternity is good but i cant play the timing
damn right about Home. but the entirety of Scenes From a Memory is awesome, my fave album of theirs.

i cant see any sort of likeness between those two songs and muse. wasnt it sposed to sound like SS?
Didnt they play the riff from SS on their last tour, between songs? That would have been cool to see
Personally, i think Scenes from a memory is one of the greatest albums of the last ten years, almost flawless. But Awake (very melodic) and Train of Thought (very heavy) are really good too (jury is still out on Octavarium)
Anybody ever listen to the spin-oof group, Liquid Tension Experiment? I havent heard anything by them myself, and i was wondering are they worth getting

Octavarium on the new live album is even better than the studio version.
Fantastic band.
Amen.
My opinion is the only one that counts, though thats not my opinion.

Amen.
They're indeed an amazing band, but, i've read in an interview that they had hard times in making shorter songs, which is, strange Their long songs are great, but easy to get bored of it because of its length.
no chance for fate!

I have that problem as well sometimes, i just cant sit through Octavarium or A Change of Seasons in one sitting. But then there are songs like Stream of Consciousnous, Endless Sacrifice or the Mind Beside Itself set that only seem half as long when you listen i listen to them. I think that's the sign of a truely great song, when it seems a lot shorter than it actually is

Octavarium is brilliant and I have no problems listening to it in one go. With the older stuff that always seems to be the problem. Nonetheless, Dream Theater are awesome.

Firstly, amazing band. I've only heard stuff off octavarium and six degrees of inner turbulence, but they are amazing. Never Enough does sound a lot like Hysteria/SS with the riff, and the appegios in the chorus, and the solo is AMAZING. They are just amazing. Mike Portnoy is an insane drummer. And he taught himself how to play. They're just amazing.

possibly the second best band on the planet (after muse obviously)
i only discovered them because of this site. (debate about dragon force, john petrucci got mentioned, i found dream theater because of that)
labrie gets better through the albums, but the instromentals are phenomenal, unfortunatly he can also sound like some of the worst 80s rock ballads around.

Goddamn, some of their songs are damn cheesy, but hell are they good at their instruments!!!
Like a tightly wound, sexy machine.

I got Systematic Chaos today. Except for one song, they have a distinct power metal feeling to the lyrics. My first thought is I prefer their usually insightful lyrics to cheesy fantasy stuff, but I'll give it some time. Favorite song is probably Repentance.

SC is a big disappointment, particularly coming after 8VM.
Still, some good tracks:
- Forsaken
- Constant Motion
- The Dark Eternal Night
- Repentance
- Prophets Of War

^ That's practically the whole album.
I'm really liking Systematic Chaos. My faves atm would be The Dark Eternal Night and The Ministry of Lost Souls.
Love their return to a more heavier sound just like Train of Thought.
Gotta admire the way they change sounds and make it work, for me anyway.
that leprechauns on acid!

I'm a huge fan of Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence. The title song for that album is just brilliant, and a great exploration of mental illness. There are no weak tracks on that album, either.
Prophets of War has a very strong Muse influence.

Quote They are amazing musicians- so much so that it actually depresses me to watch them because I realize how much I just suck compared to them- ha! But either way I agree- although I'm not exactly too into the singer's voice. Matt's is better fo' sho'.
