It's not about mind-blowing twists anymore, it's about developing characters and situations, and making the story coherent. One minute everyone's complaining about not getting answers, next minute they're complaining about no twists and 'wtf' moments. It's madness. They need to remove the 'Lost' moments, if that's what you want to call them, to allow for plot development and eventual conclusions.
And if moments like Desmond coming back and Jacob/Smokey's conversation at the end of the Richard episode don't get you excited, then you're going to be disappointed with the rest of the show, I think.
Also, Desmond being back is awesome. It's about damn time.

A note about this season, I rememver getting frustrated with the show at this point in the last season. When I watched them all back to back, I realised how effing great the season was. It's the same case again. Answers are coming.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm not looking for mind-blowing twists every episode, but they need to stop pretending/assuming we're going to be blown away by these things. It's all about how they presented Desmond's return that made me think they wanted us to be jumping out of our seats and beating our chests. It's cool, but not huge. Like the series itself.

Meh, they didn't really hype the "package" that much. The big thing was really when he said "it's not a what, it's a who" or whatever. From that point on it was fairly obvious it would be Desmond, and they didn't make a big deal out of it, I think. Although, some people were really expecting Walt.

Was the driver the crazy guy who Hurley got the numbers off?
Great episode, but I'm very biased towards Des. It's the exact same thing that happened at the start of Season 3 when he turned the hatch key. Except instead of going back in time he goes to the alternate universe. In fact, I'm willing to bet the first time it was an alternate universe as well. Much like the first time, Desmond is now changing things in order to fit in with the original, island, time line.

It has told us that large energy bursts that occur on the island create alternate dimensions. Similar to that of what happened when the hatch blew up. It also seems that these "deviations" from reality will eventually converge with the original reality.
It has also shown that Desmond is indeed the key to the whole show.
