i'm looking to start learning the electric guitar, but i don't have a clue what to get.
Could someone please give me some suggestions as to what guitar would be a good starting one?

£150 is about the most I'm willing to spend.

Is that £150 budget including an amp? Or just a guitar?

Sorry for the topic I created earlier, I was just typing in a hurry, anyway here's what I wrote:

Okay so I was a bassist for 3 years and I've definitively switched to Guitar. So I'm selling my Hartke A100 bass amp for 300€ (£200) to the bassist in my band and I want to buy myself a bad ass guitar amp with that money + extra.

I play post-hardcore music, I like using distorsion but I still want a clear sound for high pitched notes.

What can I add? I play with an Epiphone SG-400 guitar and I don't have any pedals yet, I'm using a Zoom A2 for now.

Cheers for any advice.

Someone in my music class got an Epiphone Dot, it plays really well. I didn't get a proper listen to the sound as it was a shitty school amp, but it felt very nice. I'd like a guitar like that, actually...

soundcontrol do such a scheme I think, it's called play or something. Have a nose around in a store or on their site and there may be clues.

I've got a dilemma people!!!

For Christmas, with my extra money that I've saved up, should I buy a M-Audio Prokeys 88 digital piano or a Laney VC-30 212 from GAK? Bearing in mind I can probabl purchase the other one of whichever I pick bout a month or two afterwards, but the main christmas present is mostly my money and slightly donated from my parents.

New amp = awesome, I have a crappy Rage 158 and I want to have a big and awesome amp (with valves too). I've seen clips on youtube too and it sounds amazing.

Piano = I've wanted one for ages, and I know it will increase my musical and songwriting ability 2million-fold. Plus the warm synth setting is orgasmical. Plus I brought a crappy keyboard last christmas, sold it a month ago and now want a proper 88 key one.

Which do you reckon people?

Thanks

What is your first instrument?

I'd probably recommend getting the one you're not as good at, then you'll get better faster. That's what I'm doing

I play electric guitar which I am pretty good at; no piano at all. I brought a 61-key keyboard last Christmas but it was a bit of a waste as it wasn't too pianoy and the keys were shite. I was thinking more towards getting the Prokeys, because it looks and sounds amazing.

So yeah, guitar is my first instrument, really my only instrument so yeah...any more opinions would be nice

worth it I'd say, the only things that are diff from that and the KP3 are the size, no lighting up of screen and less input jacks. possibly less patches, and I heard that there's no synth ones...although I don't know, I'd guess there would be!

you could go for this if you want just the synth programs and not manipulation ones:

You'd probably be best going for the piano then. That's my intention... I've always hated the way keyboards feel, so I'm hopefully going straight to piano...

Some people can't hear the frequency known as 'clean'.

There are several people in my music class who simply cannot flick the switch over to clean, so I know what you mean.

I like to call them emos.

Does anyone have any opinions on either the PRS Tremonti SE or the 30w Line 6 Spider-III?

Thanks
