ok, soldiers poem lyrics.
"And do you think you deserve your freedom?
no, i dont think you do"
theres no justice in the world
theres no justice in the world, and there never was.
so... i was listening to it today and I realised... he could mean either thing :S
does the "no, i dont think you do" > mean Matt doesnt think you deserve your freedom?
or does it mean matt doesnt think you think you deserve your freedom?
because they mean two quite different things!!!
(and I didnt include a "both" option because whinging that both are true isnt choosing!)

hmmm i'd never thougth about that before...
hmmm that is a toughie.
i'd have to go with the first one i suppose

Second one. IMO it's more to do with the idea that we don't think about whether or not we deserve freedom, more that it's something we take for granted.

I think he's comparing both persons' thoughts. He is saying, do you think you deserve your freedom, because I don't think you deserve it.

I always thought of it as 'I don't think you deserve your freedom'
But now that you mention it, there is also the line just before that which goes 'When you know damn well that this is wrong'... so it could be more like 'You pretend that you deserve your freedom, but deep down I don't think even you believe that you do'

I'd say Matt doesn't think we deserve our freedom. And, unfortunately, in a lot of respects, he has quite a point. As a whole, the public have always been a little ungrateful and not nearly as supportive as they should be of our armed forces.
But perhaps that's just me being unintentionally controversial.

I thik he thinks we dont deserve our freedom
I couldnt care less what this world has to offer if the price is to die ill keep my human spirit alive

I believe he is referring to the powers that be sending the people out to fight for them, as the next line is:
"And how could you sound us so far away from home"
So it's none of the above in my opinion... It's the leaders of the world who don't deserve their freedom because they send people to die on a whim.

i think the first one because it's written from the soldier's perspective. i interpretted it as the soldier saying to all the world leaders why should he be fighting for them, what makes them have freedom and be able to send other people to do the dirty work.
i supposed it could be a quick switch to matt though. i mean, it could mean matt is saying to the soldier's they sort of don't realise that they deserve freedom, and they are being used by leaders.
i think the first one though.

I completley agree in my opinion it's quite obvious
Theyll try to steal your life
