it does keep the level of foxes down....after all they can be a menace to farming. But as a sport its a bit over the top. I believe that the aim makes sense, but they go about it all wrong

They're fucking with nature.

well foxes are technically a pest...if we didnt have such cruel farming methods by other farmers (e.g chicken gm breeding) that kept us alive and the country fed, we'd all rely on the farmers controlling the growing number of foxes

Yeah, but there are other and less cruel ways of "wildlife managment" than this.

actually, fox hunting cotributes very little in terms of keeping fox numbers down. Figures of how much percentage of foxes are killed as a result of it are impossibly to comfirm but official figures usually say it's only responsible for killing about 6% of foxes. when you compare that to something like the amount that are killed by cars, it is irrelevant.
Also at the time of foot and mouth disease hunting was basically banned for about a year and while no one knows for sure what happened to the numbers of foxes, the 4 research teams i have read who did reports on it all said that there was no notable increase in fox numbers.

well im not condoning fox hunting...but i think that foxes are a problem that needs adressing.
and we forget the evil farming methods that lock thousands of malnutritioned, cramped chickens, pigs etc just to give us KFC and stuff. So fox hunting by comparison is a less murderous evil
Im more for Organic farming

organic means jack shit. free range also doesnt really mean anything. all forms of animal killing are cruel, some more so than others but dont be fooled by mass producers sticking an organic label on - like Mcdonalds

Surprisingly not.

im not saying that ....im saying the organic alternative of farmers themselves to let animals be bred properly rather than the current evil mass killing methods

but is it the better of two evils christian?

possibly. but they are villanised (is that a word?) by alot of farmers. the actual amount they cost the farmers from killing livestock is actually very small. They also kill rabbits which eat wheat and grain, which actually saves the farmers lots of money.

that is all true, but just because something is worse then fox hunting, it doesn't make that fox hunting good.
if a man killed a group of 10 children, would you say it's silly to condemn him because there is man somewhere who killed 30?
Quote i like you.
 thank you

if i had to choose between going on a protest for stopping fox hunting or stopping evil farming methods.....id go with the latter
however they are both riddled with bad points
Amy, u made it seem that just because McDonalds lie about their organic food that means all organic produce and methods are evil too??

organic means without the use of chemicals/drugs etc whereas free range means that the animal can move around naturally. But you cauld easily (as mcdonalds do) have a factory farm and use intensive farming methods but let the animals out for an hour or so then label the meat free range and organic. some small butchers may be honest, but i just dont believe supermarkets.

That's not completely true. it's not always good to label things as either right or wrong. organic farming is still ultimately cruel, but alot kinder then factory farming.
but i think anyway you look at it there is no point in buying anything from mcDonalds

How does that make shooting them, or setting traps any better?
A fox can live in agony for days with a wound from being shot before dying, but an injured fox would not escape hounds. Also, hounds are unlikely to catch the fastest, healthiest foxes before the weaker ones. I still say that hunting with hounds is better.
