You are a sheep if you believe what everyone else believes and do what other people are doing.

Like for example if you believe in "the bible" and worship god and shit then you are a sheep. Or like if everyone does something cos its cool and you do it too to be cool then you are a sheep.

The thing about the bible is that it wasn't written by "God". It wasn't written by "Jesus". Most of the New Testament was written by Paul who never even met "Jesus". In fact, he was active in the persecutions of early Christians, claiming it to be an unlawful Jewish cult.

its obvious the bible wasnt written by "god" or "jesus".
i dont understand what your saying either, people who hold faith in something are sheep just because others share a similar belief?
what are we supposed to do then? stop believing? wouldnt that mean were still "sheep"?
and besides, "the lord is my sheperd" (psalm 23), christians admit to being sheep in the first place.

However, what Vality is saying is essentially correct. The reason you belevie is because you are told by respectable people (Parents etc) what to beleive.

Hence making you a sheep.

For if you weigh up the eveidence (Evolution, inconsistences in the bible etc) you must come to the conclusion that god does not exist.

Exactly, Humanity is fucked and corrupt. Why would you believe the "Word of God" from some man in the desert a few thousand years ago? I don't even trust my own neighbour let alone some nomad who was wandering the desert with nothing better to do then hear voices and shit...nowadays that kind of person would be locked up in a mental institute for being crazy..

The desert can play tricks on the mind, especially if you spend a long time there - for example; Moses is out in the desert for weeks and he comes across a burning bush which starts talking to him and then it turns his staff into a snake...What rational person would believe that could happen?

He mistakes his own mind for "God".

I find it funny how "God" killed off all humanity once before (except "Noah")...I think its about time he did it again.

Is Matt an atheist?...he comes across as an atheist definitely because he's so intelligent.

I've been an atheist for ever, I was never Christened....I'm a pure atheist yayyy and mighty, mighty proud that I've never had to be corrupted by church or pushy religious parents.

I believe in science and myself.

Having been a Christian all my life. The last few years i became more open minded and thought about what COULD be. I realised that nothing can come from nothing...and something that is based upon time, must have had a beginning. Therefore God must be a constant being and created the universe. This i am 100% sure of (you cannot doubt that argument logically). From this i realsied Christianity, like all religions, has points which have been outdated, E.g sex before marriage, gay relationships. So i adapted it slightly to fit myself. For me, sex before LOVE isnt acceptable. And you should not BE gay, but if you happen to meet someone of the same sex and happen to fall in love with them..there's nothing wrong at all. I think when i discovered Muse i started thinking more due to their thought provolking msuic

For me, there isn't a right religion, you choose the one according to your culture and you as yourself. For me it happened to be an evolved version of Christianity.

I was baptised when i was a baby, but i've never felt any connection or affection to christianity.
Last year i tried to read the Bible, but i got so bored i quit reading it. I only read half of the Old Testament and i just couldn't get further than a few pages of the New Testament. To me, there wasn't any truth in it.
And this month i went to Rome on holiday and visited a lot of churches there, and a lot of them are beautiful buildings, but when you see all the gold and wealth inside those churches you simply can't believe that the "God" for which these buildings were built wants to help the poor people.
I don't believe anything other religions say either. So i think that makes me an atheist.

By the way, the Dutch word for "baptism" is "doop", and when you say that out loud, it sounds like the English word "dope" lol i thought that was kinda funny

The bible contradicts itself in so many places you start to wonder, who really wrote it??!! Like it says that homosexuality is unnatural, and yet it also says about loving thy neibourgh as you love thy self! Hell being christian really makes it hard to figure out what to think!

Atheism rocks..Seriously!!

well i believe there's a creator for this world, it makes more sense to me, im muslim, but i dont care if anybody is christian or jew or whatever, as long s u believe in god, i think its important, and actually it makes more sense than atheism, tho relying on science and nature sometimes seems more dependable and real, but we're just human, we're so proud we have working brains make us create theories of owr own, but what if our intelligence is nothing compared to what god can create, what if what we can feel and think is just nothing compared to what really this universe is?,we cant know for sure,i dont know but even scientifically for me i find that there's a god no doubt about it imho..

That's all Evolution. It might be easier to think humans were created by something greater, but i don't believe that.
It aren't only humans that are this complicated, it's everything on this planet, even the planet itself and probably every planet/moon/whatever in the universe. And everything a human is can be logically argued, although science is not that far in some ways yet.
All life on this planet had a beginning and everything that exists now is an evolution of that beginning. There is a lot of evidence for that theory and it does make sense, although it might be unbelievable. But for me it's more unbelievable to think that somewhere there is something greater that made humans. It's just too vague.

Sometimes I despair. Beginnings and ends are human concepts. We create the idea of a beginning to help us understand our complex changing enviroment. The first law of thermodynamics states that energy can not be created or destroyed, it just changes form. This is the same for everything. Take Life for example, the carbon molecules are still there after death and still will be forever. It is just impossible for us to comprehend an infenite amount of time and so we create concepts to help us understand our enviroment.

Woah, try to hold back on the broad generalizations, there. Simply because something is defined by human beings does not mean it is invalid. Have you ever witnessed a beginning or end of time? There is evidence against such a perception, but there is not conclusive evidence invalidating it. Furthermore, historically many native cultures in Southeast Asia and the Americas conceptualized time as cyclical, and it was expressed as such in their everyday lives. This view seems to coexist with modern science, yet it is also a "human concept." So, do not despair, just keep an open mind and continue to observe while developing your own ideas .

Fury: "and we'll pray that threre's no god to punish us and make a fuss", so i guess even if he's an athiest, he has his doubts, he's not 100% sure, the funny thing is that it says:" and we'll pray" who'd answer if he doesnt want a god then :P lol
