From the description, the album sounds a bit all over the place. Follow Me sounds like Muse's cheesiest song to date, especially considering that it features his baby's heartbeat at the start.

Not overly optimistic, but I'll still approach it with an open mind.

Sounds all political lyrically again which is a shame but instrumentally could be an interesting mix

I'm not going to judge before I hear the album, the album summary sounds like the album is messy.

And I've never seen anything recorded of Muse that was better than Hullabaloo. There may well have been though. I don't really follow all the interviews/live bits on tv/stories/etc.

Part of me is glad this album looks to be a haphazard mess. Now I get to implement my "Create three cohesive albums from their three previous releases." plan.

Agreed... why can't they get past this? getting so boring now

I guess Chris' songs and Follow Me are past it... that's a start

Black Holes at least had some semblance of a flow to it, though.

I just don't understand how you can sing revolutionary songs from your movie-star girlfriend's yacht.

Not really sure what to think based on these descriptions. Sounds as though it's going to be a very strange mix.

So basically Matt has gone bonkers with the doom & gloom stuff. I don't think I'll be buying this.

Survival
NME SAYS: "If [the fans] hate it, cool", says Dom. "At least it's provoking something. It's a pretty weird song for the Olympics to choose, but it's cool that they think the song can represent the enormity of the Olympics. It takes you back to Gladiator-style Olympics. Maybe they should bring some of those back, like fending off a tiger with a spiked metal ball."

No, that's not cool. A total disregard of what people think? What a cunt.

The fact that the song wasn't written especially for the Olympics, and is a genuine album track saddens me greatly.

Follow Me

Didn't Jay-Z do this too?

I prefer that to Survival to be honest.

Yes, but Absolution, BH&R and TR had their moments of beauty in addition to the apocalyptic stuff. Even then "Apocalypse Please" is way better then anything their doing now.

How do you know this won't have it's moments of beauty? You won't know until you buy it and listen to it. By all means, don't buy it, it's your choice but it sounds pretty similar to TR and you just said you liked that.

In fairness, they`ve spent 4 albums now talking about the end of the world/rise to power of some sort of secret government.

Give it a rest and sing about alcohol addictions, how shit it is breaking up with a long term girlfriend and other nonsense people can actually relate to. Chris` tracks are the only ones I`m actually looking forward to on this.

I remember reading descriptions of The Resistance before it dropped and it taught me not to believe a second of anything they come out with.

(Glad about Chris writing two though)

Pretty much this.
Because of easy to relate lyrics, bands like Pulp, Art Brut and The National have turned to be some of my favourite bands nowadays while Muse keeps alienating fans more and more with this end of the world stuff.
That's why I'm really looking forward to Chris' tracks.

Besides that "The 2nd Law" part of the album on the end sounds like really used idea. It somehow reminds me of Rush but more electronic and worse. Something like 2112 or Cygnus X-1.
Might that they are nothing a like. It's just the feeling I'm having.
