There really are only so many that can be designed. I think the most 'ideal' game of the series so far is HeartGold/SoulSilver. 251 Pokemon was a good amount to have before designs just got truly silly. Back before the releases of the original Gold/Silver, everyone got really excited about what all these new Pokemon would be like. We had heard 150 so many times (those of course their was number 151 Mew, and a sneaky Ho-Oh in the first episode of the show).
Since then, not so much. Only the starting Pokemon and the new legendary ones get any attention. And the terrible ones just for ridicule, such as the ice cream.
And the update of gameplay and graphics make it my favourite of the series so far, even though it was a remake. However, I am still interested in Black and White 2.

SoulSilver was my favourite Pokemon game I think. It hadn't got to the point where all the Pokemon were just animals with their names spelled wrong but it played as good as the series has aside from Black and White. The only downside is that Snivy, who is clearly the best starter of all, wasn't introduced until Black.

Scrafty and Whimsicott are awesome. There were a lot of other good ones introduced in DP and BW, but my favorite is still Emerald. I don't know why, there was just something about it that was really great.

I love Emerald too. Emerald is new enough to feature good enough graphics and in my opinion, Generation 3 was last good Pokemon generation. Story is also the best I have seen on any Pokemon game so far.

Well you may like the type combo, but I'm saying the form doesn't have to be randomly picked out of the Homebase catalogue. Some sort of demon-like character would have been better for that perhaps.
But the line goes Litwick (candle) -> Lampert (lamp) -> Chandelure (chandelier) - I think it's an incredible line myself. To me, it's amazing - I dunno, I like the idea of objects or animals imbued with one of the elemental types taking on characteristics as such. Straight up demons and ghosts have been overdone - the Gastly and Duskull lines, for example. Bannette is simply a marionette, yet has one of the most original Ghost-type designs. Chandelure is based around both the idea of chandeliers (and their association with haunted houses, etc.) and of hellfire - a great addition, personally.
You could argue the 'such-and-such is just a so-and-so' - they've been doing that since the original Pokemon games.

Yeah, I was just picking on the stupid looking ones. With every new generation there are questionable forms that are pretty unimaginative or just fillers. I haven't actually played the new games. I'd love to though, but pokemon games have taken up enough time in my life; time which I don't have any more  .
If I played the games I'm sure I'd change my mind about a few of the new pokemon. The starters look the best since the original set, and I'm sure I'd quickly form some other favourites, whatever they looked like. I did that with every new pokemon game I played!

I haven't watched Pokemon in a while. Got bored on the beginning of fifth season. I guess I could continue watching it again. My plan originally was to watch Pokemon all the way through until they change voice actors (season 8?). It is a shame that they can't ever top the amazingness of the Indigo League. That is where all my Pokemon related childhood memories are.

The Indigo League season (and the Orange Islands) was the best though. All seasons after that just repeated the same format. I'm still watching the Black and White season though, I don't know why. I'm actually watching the Japanese subtitled versions now. I have no life...

Pokemon is the only Anime where I have ever preferred English dubs. That is most likely because back when I was 7 or something and Indigo League was first shown in Finnish television, it was obviously dubbed for Finnish. I don't know why but for some reason the Finnish voice actors sound exactly same as English ones so that's why I'm too accustomed to English dubs of Pokemon.
However if I ever watch Black and White seasons, I'm going to watch Japanese versions because new English voice actors are crap.

Heart Gold is awesome, I was playing through it a few months back, and it's definitely the best Pokemon game I've played so far. Gold/Silver back in the day was clearly the best and a nice remake is awesome.
Bought Pokemon White, haven't gotten into it yet but hopefully it will be good.

Many of the old anime shows back in the 90s just had incredible music in the English dubs that made it impossible to hate them. Also the casting for the characters was just genius. I miss those days.

It's true I have judged the Black and White games just because of the pokemon. Now seeing that Rotom(?) post from Dazza only makes it worst. But I might get a 3DS and pick it up when it goes down in price. Hope it has some kind of redeeming quality to it.
