Why does it sound like the audio was recorded via a microphone placed in front of a speaker playing the record in a hall?
Glad im not the only one who thought similar to this lol

^ It sounds almost exactly the same as the previous 20 seconds preview
All of the comments already sum up to what I'm about to say With all the visuals I can agree that this song is fit for the Olympics but I still don't like the idea for it to be on the album.

Just really want a track listing, got a feeling it may be on the album as the pre-lude is most likely on the album. If that photo of Dom in front of the whiteboard is anything to go by, it looks like Supremacy/unsustainable will flow into the pre-lude then survival. Will most likely get grander as the album progresses, really looking forward to some of the more basic stripped down tracks.

The video makes it seem alot more cohesive. The song on it's own with those lyrics makeit almost ridiculous
I can imagine that Survival will probably end up on the album as a bonus track with Prelude on it. Makes sense, unless they feel that it works better within the album.

mmm after all it fits the olympics lol
does anybody else feel sad for the athlets? it's so hard to work this hard for something so hard to obtain.

I don't feel sorry or sad for them, no; never; ever. Their decision. Failure is always an option!

Not a big fan of the shortened prelude and that beginning bit of the video, as well as the 'stronger...' etc in the first chorus. Not too keen on the black running graphics either but apart from that it's a fantastic video, really brings out the song and shows exactly what it's about.
But, in the context of this video, the song really comes into it's own and the meaning can be seen really well but once in the context of an album, it'll completely lose that meaning and be a fairly bland song.
I just hope they don't include it on the album.

Sadly couldn't finish the video....still a terrible, terrible song. So far I think I'm the only one, but I think the video made it even worse, because it's like this......here is a video showing the purpose of why this song was written and it still feels out of place and sounds trite and forced...and musically...it's so confused and lacks a solid direction. It sounds like someone took a few melodic and thematic conventions and pasted them together with contrived lyrics to suit a specific purpose, without having and true personal investment in the finished product.
Muse used to write from the soul...there was a core of truth...and honesty and a raw beauty of expression that has been replaced by "painting by numbers" and the oft used excuse among the fans as "taking the piss"..well....I'm not into Muse because they want to be comedians and I don't want to listen to them phone it in and remove their hearts from the music...
This is complete and utter crap and it breaks my heart...but at this point after BHAR and then Resistance...I have come to expect this, so it unfortunately comes as no surprise.
I love Muse for what they did, for who they were and out of respect for that I'll listen to whatever they release at least once, but I no longer expect them to write compelling music.
Cheers

they cut the best part of the prelude... and the one that is perfect for the medals cerimony.

To Dark Reflection:
I must say that I love this song. I don't listen to Resistance and I think it is poor album, because there is no soul as you say. But in this song is so much emotion for me and I trust every word. I don't think that Matt can show emotions just only how much he moans or cry when he sings. Yes, I love song from OoS or Absolution. There he sings about relationship and finding his place in life, so there is much emotions in the way he sings. But how he can sing today for example Muscle Museum? He is no longer ignored, there is no frustration from youth anymore. He is adored and he don't want to If he sings this song today, I won't trust him. But I trust him in this song. There is story what I can imagine, where i listen to it. The beggining is playfull, soft groovy piano, it's very light. I see son and dad at stadium, they are looking at the sporting people and son don't get it. So he is asking the dad, why they are doing it a he tells him, that is a race and yo got to win. So son still don't get it, but he wants to be winner. So he trains every day. During the guitar solo he evolves, we move in time to the present and there si profesional athlete, but this time it's no longer game, music is much more serious. You have trained your whole life to be there and you want beat the others and show to the wolrd you are the fucking best and you got to wiiiiiin. Just listen to Bellamy's voice in that second part, especially to words win and lose. I have made a vocal cover, there is no perfection, but i have singed with my heart and soul and that song really grows on me. It's not crapy song at all, but everyone hate it or dont like it and I think it is a shame

muses best lyrics are still in Execution Commentary, they need to reinvent that magic

Actually i think it's not the video that made it better, it's the fact that it's shorter.

This is Matt Bellamy who brought the world 'I'm young, but I know that I'm aroused'.....

Am I only the one who thought that while they were showing pictures of races while Matt's singing "Life's a race" for the next line to be "Here's another race".
Video does wonders for the song though.

I don't think Survival is going to be on the album. I guess it was made exclusively for the Olympics (Matt had the Olympics in mind). Now that the video has been released, this song has meaning and totally suits the purpose (the cheesiness suits the purpose perfectly too), but no one will think of it without the Olympics. It'll be so hard to separate this song from the Olympics!
I really don't know what to think of it. I won't say the song is bad, it's great for the Olympics. But it's not great when out of context. It's confusing. I won't hate like other people here.

What a difference a good bit of video editing can do for a shit song.
Agreed the entire album should be edited down to 15 minutes.
