I thought he was very bad, considering how everyone was praising him. He's had a couple good games in this tournament and a couple bad ones - today was a bad one. His free kicks always make me laugh because he has the most ridiculous "warm up" for the kick. His legs are always so spread out and he just looks silly.

I really think he should've kicked 4th in the penalties, at least. The team should've known that the fifth might not kick, and the fourth is usually the deciding penalty. Again, I feel that the captain (unless it's the goalie) should always take a kick. That's just me though.

Yeah it makes sense to put your good takers first, doesn't it? Bit of a waste otherwise.

But Ronaldo was pretty bad in the game generally, certainly. Nani had a great game, as did a couple of other Portuguese players like Coentrao (even Meireles wasn't bad). Ronaldo put in a couple of good crosses and made some good runs but with a player like him you expect more than that. For a player of his stature he should have produced some end result. Even his free kicks were awful. Sergio Ramos took a better free kick than he did.

Small change got rained on with his own thirty-eight, and nobody flinched, down by the arcade.

Ramos' penalty shot didn't look as nice as Pirlo's, even though he tried to do something similar.

I hope Italy wins this one, but I'd be fine with losing to Germany as long as the winner of this game takes Spain down.

That was quite a leap and roll from Cassano just now. Loved how his own teammate then picked up the ball and carried on, and as soon as the Germans won it back they had to kick it out. This tactic is one of many reasons why Italy must go down. The first goal was soft, the second was something else though!

Wow. Didn't see this coming. The Italians are making them look ordinary.

Highlight so far is Cassano doing 14 rolls after not getting touched in a tackle.

That well-oiled machine has revealed its cracks, it seems. The extra few days off has done them no favours -- perhaps they were too confident this time. Great game!

Also, I'm no expert by any means, but Gomez looked like he didn't have a fucking clue what was going on, lol.

Andrea Pirlo is a different class of footballer. The Germans really need to stop giving him time on the ball because he's guaranteed to punish them.

Every time he gets on the ball he looks like he has time for a sandwich before he passes it. He never looks rushed. We found out how hard it is to keep him under control last Sunday.

There could be a hilarious amount of added time at the end if the stoppages and timewasting continue like this.

If Italy go through, that means my two least favourite teams going into the tournament play in the final. May as well skip the final and then will have to wait for the world cup, although its already looking grim:

Italy are playing great. Cassano was bit much in his little endeavors but they've been outplaying Germany all game. This German defense is so sad to watch.

And BUFFON. My god, what a goalkeeper. Absolutely robbed Germany of that nice free kick.

Balzaretti and Bonnucci have had absolute stormers today!
As shown with that tackle then. Unbelievable defending.

Will Pirlo have retired by the next Euro? They might be in with a shot then, hehe.

Germany look like children for once -- sad to see such talent fail at another semi-final, but the best team on the night is all the matters, obviously. Italy deserve this one, best I've seen them in a while.

I guess this makes me respect England's crew for holding 'em off for so long, although both sides were just okay in that game. Still, I know nothing.

Edit: conditions are fricking terrible. That's not normal, right? I'm expecting Toy Story on Ice to burst onto the pitch any second now.

Yea, Italy's defense has been solid and with Buffon in net, its a great back-line. The Germans should take note. Their defense is so scrambled. So much Italian hate is going on, but no one cares because they're killing it.

Also, I don't think Pirlo has lost the ball or missed a pass at all today. He really deserves to be the player of the tournament.

Italy's time killing tactics are still better than Spain's. At least Italy still try to attack and not wank in the defense for the rest of the game.

Well done Italy. Should have put in 3 or more, but that'll do. Not the result I wanted but Italy were just better tonight.

I want to say this makes England better than Germany given the result in the previous round, but then I'd be agreeing with that stupid head-to-head result rule. Which I don't.

They'll learn from this. All great teams become even greater after a defeat like that, surely.

Good stuff, that's why I like football now! Will the final be as boring as it sounds, though? *Shrugs*

Edit: Thought I just heard Muse. . .
