Unsustainable, Survival, Supremacy or 'The Award'? The rumours have been in full swing these last few days, but we've finally received some official news from the band. Survival will be broadcast tonight on Zane Lowe's show and, more importantly, has been selected by LOCOG as London 2012's official song.

We are very excited to announce that a Muse song, Survival, has been selected by the London Olympic committee to be the main official song for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Matt wrote the song with the Olympics in mind. It's about total conviction and pure determination to win.
The song will be played throughout the Games including when athletes enter the stadium, in the lead up to the medal ceremony and also as the theme for all international TV coverage. The worldwide radio exclusive will be tonight on BBC Radio 1 during Zane Lowe's show around 19:30 and will be available to buy on iTunes and in the muse.mu store immediately afterwards.
We are honoured that the Olympics have chosen our song to officially represent the London 2012 Olympic Games across the globe.

I think the guy on 6 music was just guessing, he didn't appear to have any sort of knowledge about it and didn't say it with any conviction!

Muse are my favourite band in the world, so I'm super excited to hear new stuff from them, but if this has been chosen as the official main Olympics song, my expectations aren't overly high. I have a feeling it will be more like I Belong to You than Stockholm Syndrome, if you get me.

Having been selected, it will surely be a catchy song, but since it seems like the Olympic Commitee has tried to focus the music on "British-styled music" (judging from the playlist) I think it won't be too weird (as in Undisclosed Desires or I Belong To You weird).

Apparently its been chosen for the Olympics, but the title was on that board of song names they put on twitter a few months ago, so it's not a one off song

Can't wait to hear it. I hope it's a Butterflies and Hurricanes style song. That's already being used on numerous TV features about the games. Further tour dates to be announced shortly???

Well it's definitely real, who else creates songs with such insightful lyrics such as "I'll light the fuse and I'll never lose' Haha. Very I Belong to You sounding piano as well. Not that impressed but we'll see later.
