I read the LFC statement, it's seriously strange. Any grounds for appeal must have been lost now.

LOL.

Thats the sort of bollocks that annoys me. Fact vs stubborn opinion.

Haha! That is ridiculous.

Yes but you having to go hunting for facts proves you're equally as stubborn. At the end of it all, I don't think Carrick is a brilliant player. I never have rated him highly and I don't want your facts to tell me that I should.

So will blackburn fight off the bottom of the table or are they doomed for relegation?

Mario on Twitter:
" The FA are willing to ban someone based on one persons claim, with no video evidence? In that case, the whole ManU squad racially abused me "

I somehow doubt that the FA banned Suarez for 8 games just based on Evra's claim, there must have been sufficient evidence especially as United are involved. The FA do love to charge United This was just laughable

Ah damn, that's a shame, too good to be true as they say. I saw it on Facebook, not twitter. So all you want!

EDIT: On Carrick, stats doesn't matter, I read something on Arseblog, about Denilson technically (because of what stats say) one of Arsenal's 'better' players, and he was considered by MANY Arsenal fans, including myself, as a massive bag of wank. Because he was.

Stats don't tell the whole story basically.

Liverpool FC Statement
20th December 2011

Liverpool Football Club is very surprised and disappointed with the decision of the Football Association Commission to find Luis Suarez guilty of the charges against him.

We look forward to the publication of the Commission's Judgment. We will study the detailed reasons of the Commission once they become available, but reserve our right to appeal or take any other course of action we feel appropriate with regards to this situation.

We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone when no-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United teammates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth while a corner kick was about to be taken.

The Club takes extremely seriously the fight against all forms of discrimination and has a long and successful track record in work relating to anti-racist activity and social inclusion. We remain committed to this ideal and equality for all, irrespective of a person's background.

LFC considers racism in any form to be unacceptable - without compromise. It is our strong held belief, having gone over the facts of the case, that Luis Suarez did not commit any racist act. It is also our opinion that the accusation by this particular player was not credible - certainly no more credible than his prior unfounded accusations.

It is key to note that Patrice Evra himself in his written statement in this case said 'I don't think that Luis Suarez is racist'. The FA in their opening remarks accepted that Luis Suarez was not racist.

Luis himself is of a mixed race family background as his grandfather was black. He has been personally involved since the 2010 World Cup in a charitable project which uses sport to encourage solidarity amongst people of different backgrounds with the central theme that the colour of a person's skin does not matter; they can all play together as a team.

He has played with black players and mixed with their families whilst with the Uruguay national side and was Captain at Ajax Amsterdam of a team with a proud multi-cultural profile, many of whom became good friends.

It seems incredible to us that a player of mixed heritage should be accused and found guilty in the way he has based on the evidence presented. We do not recognise the way in which Luis Suarez has been characterised.

It appears to us that the FA were determined to bring charges against Luis Suarez, even before interviewing him at the beginning of November. Nothing we have heard in the course of the hearing has changed our view that Luis Suarez is innocent of the charges brought against him and we will provide Luis with whatever support he now needs to clear his name.

We would also like to know when the FA intend to charge Patrice Evra with making abusive remarks to an opponent after he admitted himself in his evidence to insulting Luis Suarez in Spanish in the most objectionable of terms. Luis, to his credit, actually told the FA he had not heard the insult.

Author: Liverpool FC

There you go.
That's not a wind up, that's what their press office has published on their club website.
It's like they let the conspiracy theory filled intern run riot on it .

And I will facepalm.

While he is a cunt of the highest order I don't agree with them taking just the word of Evra as the only evidence to charge him. He will win his appeal.

And that Liverpool statement was brilliant. "He has a black granddad so can't possibly be a racist" brilliant.

It's not just Evra's word though, Suarez has admitted using certain words..
Their whole argument was apparently relying upon the context and cultural implications of the words.
An area of appeal which was unlikely to succeed, as I'd still be arrested in say, Quatar, for drinking alcohol, if I had moved there to work, even if it's part of the culture of my home nation.
The same principle applies here. And unfortunately, his argument falls to the floor, as such words are also deemed racist in Holland, where he spent a fair bit of time with Ajax.

However, don't 100% me on that, I'll wait till they release the information, but this is a tricky one I think.
If he does win the appeal, I expect he'll still be guilty, but get a reduced sentence (which will happily cover the F.A. over Captain Racist, when that comes into their jurisdiction again).

The statement is brilliant right, black grandparent, so mixed race, has black friends, he likes black people...it's like a what's what of racist excuses. Add to that the it's an agenda against Liverpool, they were intent on charging him irrespective of evidence, F.A. are corrupt undertones...it's just the worst thing they could have put out bar a massive picture of a Golliwog, or a blacked up Suarez giving them the finger.

Ohhhhh he's still got that ban to come yet for flicking the bird at Fulham hasn't he. Oh Suarez....

Just wanna add something that Ruud Gullit said after the whole Peter Schmeichel giving Ian Wright racist abuse thing, a while ago.

Quote
Ruud Gullit, Chelsea's dreadlocked manager, also resorted to humour when he disclosed how he keeps his temper when insulted on the pitch.

"If someone calls me a black so-and-so, I don't take it as a racist thing because I am black!" said Gullit, whose team play Manchester United in another vital title game at Stamford Bridge today. "Take it as a compliment, it means they are probably afraid of you."

As one of the most gifted players of his generation, the Dutchman with a Surinam background was confronted by all kinds of abuse from opponents desperate to unsettle him.

"The key is that there is emotion in the game and if someone is red, you'll call them a red whatsoever," he said.

"The best thing always for every player, wherever he comes from, is to just try to play well and play your own game and then all these things vanish.

"If people are swearing at me that means they are afraid of me. That gives me a sort of superiority over them."

However, he draws the line at organised racism. "When Ajax played in Hungary the crowd made jungle sounds all the time when the black players had the ball. That is abusive," he said.

"That had nothing to do with the football game, it had nothing to do with emotions, it wasn't funny."

Nice story Sepp Blatter but that kind of attitude while some would say commendable isn't exactly helpful in the fight against racism, the more you ignore only means people will say the same thing next time they play.
And I don't think there is anyway it can be spun into being a frivolity, context or not if little Johnny sitting in the stands hears his heroes saying such things he may feel it's OK.
When all is said and done in this day and age it's not on at all and it's time for heavy bans instead of handshakes in backroom meetings. Although I can see this spiralling out of control into ridiculousness pretty quick.

Also, Blackburn.

It's all a bit embarrasing for everyone at that club right now, Owners, manager and the fans.

I'm not saying its acceptable! But Gullit got it bang on. I've been called horrible things while I've played, and I just shrug it off as it proves they're worried what I'll do.

So it's not acceptable, but at the same time, they shouldn't make "silly little claims?"
But saying someone called you negro, negrito or whatever over ten times is hardly a silly little claim.
I doubt he needs reminding he's black (in any context) that many times. I'm going to assume he's realised by now.
I've been called things in the field of play aswell, my reaction has differed on each occasion, from shrugging it off, to twatting a guy in the face, but racist abuse is a little bit more serious, really.
There is no excuse for it.

Apologies then, I didn't pick up on that!

As for the Suarez thing, how do you know Evra is telling the truth anyway? It is essentially his word against Suarez'. No other player or staff member of either team heard the alleged offence 10 times over. Add to the fact that Evra has a history of this, anyone thought that maybe he's inciting it? Or just stirring the pot to get him banned? I wouldn't put it past him.

Lets also mention the fact that Evra also directed abusive/racist language towards Suarez which Evra admits to. Will he also be punished for this? It's not like the FA have ever done anything correctly anyway, they're a joke.

Lastly I shall add, Evra said Suarez is not a racist. The FA says Suarez is not a racist. Suarez is done for racism. Umm.

1. It's not his word against Evra's, Suarez has admitted using such words, so it's both their words against no-ones. It was an argument of context and usage of the words.
2. Evra has no past records of making claims. Of the previous two occasions, one was raised by a fan who watched it on television and lip read, Evra pressed no charges.
The second was heard by a member of the United coaching staff (Mike Phealan, I think), Evra stated he didn't hear it and did not press the charges. So he has no history of it.
3. If they do charge him, fair fucks, wouldn't surprise me.
4. I am not saying he's a racist, the F.A. aren't either. A non racist person can still say something racist. It doesn't detract from what he said...he used abusive language with reference to his race, he might not be a racist, but he did do that.

To borrow your own term, please check your facts before you make random statements like that.
