Saw Skrillex live this Friday. Only one word to say actually:
Survival.
He was really great, he knows his shit, though a lot of it is just hitting the sample board.
Feed Me was better.

It is incredibly interesting always funny to play it at school. When it came on in a music tech lesson on the speakers I lol'd a lot.

So much win. Around 10 mins is almost Doctor Who like...
And it's remastered on the deluxe version of the album, which is quite good...if abit repetitive.

Teignmouth Den - 05.09.09

Could that scrotum tickler be one Matt Bellamy of Muse? :P

Angst on their new album almost beats Symphony 2808 for me. Almost.

I am seing Skrillex in about two weeks at a Swedish festival housing a lot of great eminent electronic artists.
I love Scary Monsters... and also Kill EVERYBODY.
If you like Scary Monsters... have you seen this?
I will post more about that festival in the general electronic music thread (there is one, I think).
Oh, and the original mix of Raise Your Weapon by Deadmau5 is the best, because it has a dubstep drop. :P
dude i love that song! friggin scary monsters and nice sprites is beast, has a nice drop

The dubstep posted earlier from Skream is great!
Why are there almost no dubstep parties being organised where I live...

The one thing about dubstep that i hate is that people lump every kind of electonic music with it these days.
I showed my friend 8bit by deadmau5 (Get scraped is still my fav mau5 album) and he said
Quote Sounds like shitty boring dubstep
And i thought to myself "Fuckin hell this was around a long time before skrillex".
Hello.

It doesn't matter, the song isn't even close to dubstep anyways.
deadmau5 = Progressive House.
This is what dubstep is really about.

I like some dubstep but sometimes just find it boring.
I don't know in some cases how to classify dubstep as oppose to other similar electronic genres.
I was going to link to Infected Mushroom but I think they're more psychadelic trance suff but OT I really like Nero because they add an Orcheastral sound to the genre which sounds great
The main problem I have with Dubstep is with remixes where it can often take away the subtleties of the original song
Money Spines, Paper Lung, Kidney Bingos, Organ Fun

i think theres more dubstep remixes than any other genre lol

As with any remix, doing so takes away as much as is given back.
Dubstep, at least the way I classify it, is slower than trance or DNB, and features the use of heavy bass as an melodic source instead of as a piece of percussion. It is usually a lot more atmospheric than other types of electro.
If you are listening on laptop speakers or iPod buds, then you aren't hearing dubstep. You really need a proper set of headphones or speakers with a good sub to understand it. You don't hear dubstep as much as you feel it.
Here are a few examples I feel is pure dubstep:
Mt Eden - Sierra Leone
Flux Pavillion - Cracks (Freestylers remix)
Nero - Ghosts 'n Stuff (Deadmau5 remix)
Skrillex - First of the Year <-- Some people accuse Skrillex of being 'brostep' because he lives more in the midranges. I feel like you cannot mention Dubstep without him though.
And of course, there is this
Beardyman explains Dubstep
The whole set is completely worth listening to by the way.

Thank you very much these were great to listen to, I'm already familiar with Skrillex, one of the few I already knew could be classified as Dubstep!
Really enjoyed the Flux Pavillion and Nero though probably prefer Deadmau5's original Ghosts 'n Stuff. Mt Eden I wasn't a fan of but I'll give it a few more listens. Beardyman sounded pretty funny, not listened to it all yet but will do when I get round to it
Thanks again

If you want dubstep that isn't made completely of glitch and modern talking synths, give a go at listening to what dubstep originally consisted of, with the likes of Kode9, Skream, Coki, Mala, and of course, Burial.

I actually really like Burial, and some of James Blake's stuff, but I always considered Burial to be more ambient-oriented than dubstep. Regardless, it's quality music.
