She's a mascot of the Commonwealth. Like Tony the Tiger is for Frosties. Grrrrreat!
The Royal Family really don't serve a purpose at all. Their only relevance now is the Queen's face getting everywhere on banknotes. Maintaining a culture is fine, but remove them from the picture and nothing would change. Nothing we do on a daily basis has no attachment to the Royals.
There would just be lack of mass hysteria with each birth/wedding/funeral, which probably sets people a lorra money as well.
(I could put something really funny and intelligent here, but that would just be showing off.)

To be fair, England is a couple o' centuries old. Appleland is about 30. Id like to see Apple survive the Black Death.
