The live performances were ambitious and I liked that alot. I've only ever seen a band like KISS go that OTT with stage production and pull it off with the whole glam rock thing.
I felt Muse managed to equal that, without being glam rock? They got to use a UFO, streamers, towers, an inflatable UFO etc etc.

"KISS" D:

Also, there are bands other than Radiohead out there so CAN WE COMPARE MUSE TO SOMEONE ELSE PLEASE. Even so, Hail... and In Rainbows are as close as it gets to perfect albums, for me anyway.

I was given free tickets! Would of been rude not to go see what they are like.
All cheese aside, they were bloody good.

And to help with things, TR is like Biffy's Puzzle. Not the best album out of them all but by no means crap or shit or whatever people are calling it.

Both were solid albums which showed the bands in new lights.
This album was good, and I cannot wait to hear better!

I mean seriously, OoS was like the Muse's OK Computer. Possible the best album they've ever made. And like OK Computer, that was the best Radiohead album ever made. Radiohead are on a slippery slope in that case, judging by the logic presented comparing this era to others.

There are quite a few differences between Origin of Symmetry and OK Computer.
The first one is the OK Computer is just better.
The second one is that Radiohead made 4 perfect albums after that, while Muse made 1 good and 2 average albums after Origin.

Radiohead is amazing. But I can't take you seriously ever again if you think IR, HTTT and Kid A were perfect.

Maybe not perfect, but IR, HTT, Kid A and Amnesiac are couple of my favourite albums, ever. Nothing Muse have done is getting close to any of them. But hey, that's my opinion.

And In Rainbows and Kid A really are perfect anyway.

I enjoyed Puzzle. But then again I think Puzzle turned out the way it did because of the death of Simon's mother, hence the whole album pretty much being about death and Folding Stars completely throwing his emotions out there.

In any case, Only Revolutions was an amazing mix of old school Biffy (without the screaming, mind you) with some the more popular stuff they aspired to do. I think Muse's next album could be similar. Incredible, or absolutely shit. The baby coming into Matt's life may also effect things album wise. Only time will tell.

I avoided using OR as its my favourite Biffy album so far.

And yes Kid A is awful. One good song and thats it. The rest become unbearable to listen to.

Chris2901 :Going forward, I think we can expect smaller gigs for "REAL FANS", which will be the right setting to go back and play oldies, new material and be closer to the fan experience. If its not being self produced, maybe they'll produce OoS or Abso v2.

I doubt either of these things will happen. If anything I think Muse will go even further away from their alt-rock roots on the next album. Which is not to say that it will consist of ten Neutron Star Collisions, but I just doubt they will go back to their earlier sound.

It's funny how some people were hoping for Muse to make OoS or Absolution 2 -because- they didn't have a producer for The Resistance.

I doubt they will. Chris already expressed how annoyed he was they've become a tagline for Twatlight. They'll want to distance themselves. Also with NSC being cheesy but personal, Showbiz was also a sorta personal album so there's no reason for them not to go back.

I think once they have someone who tells them whats good and whats not, they can produce some good stuff!

That quote IMO got widely misread by the fans who projected their own feelings about Twilight. Chris indicated in a later interview that he didn't mean to sound negative.

Meh. I think he meant it. He's a pretty simple guy, not batshit insane like Matt! :P

They know what they've got to do, I doubt all this goes off as unheard of. They knew about the "messageboard" so they'll have a good idea to go at something.

Too ambitious in my opinion. Couldn't listen to it. How to Disappear Completely and Idioteque were the only 2 that I could listen to.

Well you need to have some type of comparison to make when you want to talk about how to make music the right way compared to the way Muse do it.

Resistance was an ok era. Biggest dissapintment was probably Exo, by the way Bellamy was talking about it, I thought it would rival Nightwish - Ghost Love Score or Poet And The Pendulum --but no it didn't. Nowhere near!

EDIT:
And seriously Muse vs Radiohead debate died about 9 years ago. They are NOTHING AT ALL ALIKE!!! I would easily see Muse twice every tour as I have been for the last 2 tours, whereas Radiohead I would rather have my nuts squeezed in a vice before even considering it. I can hold a tune better than Thom Yorke....my dog could probably hold tune better than Thom Yorke!!!

I have hope for the next Muse album and, like someone said in an earlier reply, they need someone to put them back on track and keep their heads level, before they take the OTT style any further.

I've enjoyed listening to everything Muse have done, but obviously some of their songs are weaker than others. I would to see them release something raw, but with the experimentation that they've included in recent years.

I haven't lost faith yet

EDIT: I also enjoyed The Resistance, and I think they've gotten it out of their system, along with NSC so the next album can be one of their best, if not the best yet.

I enjoyed the album until like a year ago. I've come to the conclusion that I like Absolution and OOS way more! Don't know about BHaR, bit of the same probably. It's still good. but not one of my favorites.

I've seen them live twice, and especially the second gig was amazing (Goffertpark). Amazing setlist and amazing show!

Still would like to see the return of the heavy Muse (2004 era).

final reflections.

does that mean this is the death of this album's discussion? i feel sad. When Muse make their last album.. will there be a thread here saying "Muse: Final Reflections" and then the whole site will be locked for people only to view likes its an artifact but never to be able to post...

what a weird thought.
