Oh dear lord no.

This.

BH&R is the worst album they've made. It's also the worst sounding. I cannot express enough my hatred for this album.

They're both as bad as each other.

The Resistance is far better than BHaR, it has USE and Resistance.

In all seriousness though. I don't understand how it could be a classic. It's four years old, isn't particularly critically acclaimed, and in all likeliness will disappear into the depths as a relatively unknown album.

Agreed. Definitely not a 'classic' in any sense of the word.

But personally I think it's a great album, I loved it when it came out and I love it now.

The only track I never listen to is Soldier's Poem but I'm not too bothered by it. I love all of the other tracks. I do bear a tiny grudge towards Exo-politics for making it onto the album, I would have preferred Glorious to be on it instead.
Glorious

How Muse could go from this good an album to the mess that is TR is beyond me.

It's a shame you pick on exo when there is many others that should go before that, including every single that was released. All very bad songs, catchy but terrible.

I think the more time goes by, the you realise how dam good that album was! and me being a bit "old school" i found it much harder to like it from the start, so yes i do feel it's now a classic (for me anyway).

Personally I feel like Blackholes is one of the best albums of the past decades, and i think that it is in many ways a superior album to Origin. It's the album that did away with Radiohead comparison's, and the album that truly made Muse an international hit, with songs that are artful and do not compromise Muse's M.O.

My only gripe with it, is that between tracks 2 - 9, every song has virtually the exact same verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge (guitar solo)-chorus type structure going on.

But that's also what makes it so great. They really showed that they could be a band the actually have subtlety and restraint in their music. BlackHoles is the most restrained album in their discography, but it is not out of laziness, it is because on that album, they were greatly concerned with putting out a really tight, and cohesive album.

and Knights of Cydonia is THE blistering rock epic of the 2000's.

My band just released a new promo!!! Check it out!!! Were called Pillage and Plunder:

It's certainly not a classic in the same way Origin and Absolution are, but it's an album that'll always bring back a lot of good memories because it was the era in which I saw both my first Muse gig, and the best gig I've ever been to (Wembley). Also as I only got into Muse when Absolution came out, BH&R was the first album for which I sat through months of build up and hype. I can still remember being amazed by the first live performances of Knights and MOTP before the album came out - instant classics! Listening to Take a Bow for the first time was a great moment, and I loved the rest of the album except for Soldiers Poem (nothing to it) and Exo-Politics (distinctly average).

However it doesnt have as much depth as Origin and Absolution, and so over time some of its initial charm has worn off for me - I wouldnt be bothered if they never played Starlight and Supermassive live again, I still don't particularly find Soldiers Poem interesting, the Exo-Politics main riff and verses still annoy me, and I hardly ever listen to Assassin. Glorious should have been on the album without a doubt.

For me the album isnt quite a classic in terms of music, but it is a great representation of a fine era for Muse which I enjoyed from start to finish. Take a Bow, MOTP, and Knights are definitely among the bands best work.
