What a load of bullshit! Why do they need to?They've only released 3 albums and they're going to have a new one coming out soon so why would they want to concentrate on a greatest hits album. These kind of threads have been done before as well so start using the search thing.

so many people are just tapping and threading without thinking.

a greatest hits album is NOT the direction the band are going in, no way.

Or busted, at the beginning of their career. Just goes to show

greatest hits = total desperation, last resort

Or in the case of Busted
greatest hits = we know the population of screaming teenyboppers will buy it, so it's a great chance to get us money

look at radiohead, theyve had 6 albums a couple of EPs some live albums and recordings and there in the process of making a new album, still no Greatest Hits, cause they dont need one, same applies to muse

true true all true, but in the marketing media, just for the reason of a larger market share, they would do after this next album if they didn't reach a new level, there are quite a few of us who are dedicated fans, but not nearly as many as Oasis or Coldplay, if muse wanted to rise above it's competitors then greatest hits may become a good idea.

the reason however, this won't happen, is because they don't want to become massively famous, a qoute taken from matt bellamy in Q magazine, "look" says matt bellamy, a twitchy individual whose 26 years sit on the fame and build of a teenager still awaiting the onset of puberty, "I'm happy to get widescale recognition on a musical level, but becoming properly famous, not interested really"

Yeah, and there's the "I'm hardly the next Gwen Stefani, am I?"
If they EVER consider it, I am prepared to get on my knees and beg them not to do make a greatest hits album. *shudder*

Greatest Hits albums are for bands that write music to make hits. Music for the charts. Muse don't do that, they write music because that's what they do best, and if it happens to be a "hit" then woo, it's another excuse to get drunk.

i hate to throw a spanner in the works, but the chilis released a greatest hits album at the end of the 80s, when they definitely weren't writing to make singles, i admit the new 1 is just a cash in though

Yeah, a greatest hits isn't really neccesary after only 3 albums. I think maybe after their fifth album or so a greatest hits would be good. But I mean like right now 90% of the songs would qualify for the greatest hits. They need a lot more before they could do it

Radiohead

I mean generally. And the Chillis released that to cash in because they needed cash for heroin.
