Depends who they get as a replacement really. Oceansize had a similar thing a couple years back when Jon Ellis left, they basically said that if they can't get the chemistry back they'd quit. Luckily they did...hopefully Interpol will manage. If they don't, then it's probably for the best.

I am just trying to figure out who it could possibly be - the announcement says exciting new additionS. So I don't know if they will be permanent, or what. I almost wouldn't mind seeing Paul, or even Dan taking bass duty (Dan has written the basslines to Evil, Specialist, and I think another) sometimes. But overall: yuck.

Carlos left?!? I was always expecting Paul to be the one to call it quits. Well at least Carlos finished the album with them, and I'm sure nobody begrudges him wanting to pursue different things. But I think I'll miss his great stage presence if I catch them live on their new tour.

I'm pretty sure Interpol can manage to go on without Carlos. He wasn't doing much for the band lately and he was quite apathetic during the last tour. He was even travelling on his own and was only seen during sound checks and shows. And as someone above said, Daniel wrote some of the basslines. So I'm pretty sure there's no need to panic.

Ramen to that, I'm expecting him to come up with something interesting! And it sounds like the 'split' from the 'Pol was an amicable one, at least I hope so.

he doesn't have to tour if he really doesn't want to. Like John Frusiante, he made his own album and didn't tour.

Well that sucks. He's my favourite bass player, the bass being my favourite thing about Interpol. This is very bad news. At least he helped them complete the album. I just hope they don't lost it with him gone.

Ahww I didn't know he had left . It's nice of him he helped them complete the album and then decided to quit. I'm sure Interpol will find a good replacement, but it's still a shame .
In other news: Tour dates! November 21 in HMH in Amsterdam  . Sorry, don't know any other dates  .

Man, they've totally had a crap year, haven't they? Label issues (or else we'd probably have the album already), Carlos leaves (still in denial about this one), and then Bono!
Admittedly though the timing of the original tour was not so great for me, so now at least I have a better chance of seeing them...it'll just be quite a wait.
