We do. It's what happens when you don't click "Reply".

So people are actually moaning about a song that they haven't even written yet? If I was expecting everything they do to be shit i wouldn't bother listening to them anymore.

What's PML!? And I thought I knew all the memes...
|

I'm guessing it means pissing myself laughing.
Anyway, I don't think most people expect everything Muse do to be shit. Just that Muse and the olympics together seems like a match made in cheese hell.

PML = pissing/peeing myself laughing

Remember Bjork with Oceana? Great song, fitted with the whole theme without sounding cheesy and shit, and was a perfect Olympic song.
Then again, that is Bjork - she doesn't do cheesy crap. I just don't want something like Guiding Light
That's my issue here. If you give someone like Bjork this opportunity she makes something like Oceana. As much as I hate to draw the comparison, Radiohead. Sigur Ros. They all make music you could claim to be epic, experimental, and I suppose, filmic, if there is such a word. Muse can kinda fit into that group. But there's a vast difference between them. While I'm sure Sigur Ros, given the opportunity for a song like this, would create something grand and emotional befitting the tradition and the scale of the event, I just can't see Muse doing the same. Something like this is just asking for them to be cheesy.
I think Sigur Ros could pull it off brilliantly - I suppose it would never happen as it would mean a disproportionate number of Icelandic artists doing the Olympics theme song
Muse I'm sure could write a good tune for it. Is this even halfway confirmed though? I can't be arsed to listen to the whole interview.

It's not confirmed; they just said they're interested and would be up for it...

Quote Muse and The Horrors have both declared hopes to release the official anthem of the upcoming London Olympics.
The Horrors rocker Rhys Webb told BBC 6 Music that he and bandmate Tom Cowen have already penned a track for the 2012 event, and that the pair recently forwarded it to London Mayor Boris Johnson for consideration.
Describing the song, Cowen said: "It's an electronic piece and it's very evocative of the human frame and very athletic, but also graceful. It would be a lot better than whatever they choose, that's for sure."
Meanwhile, Muse drummer Dominic Howard has said that the Devonshire trio are considering a track for the event, which is due to take place from July 27 to August 12 in 2012.
He told the station: "Since it's in London, sure. We've got a new song, so maybe we could use that."
Bernard Sumner, who wrote the 1990 football World Cup anthem 'World In Motion' as part of New Order, also expressed his interest in writing a song for the games.
"[I'm] very interested," he explained. "I'm a sporty guy myself. I go jogging every day. I jog 20 miles every day so I'm well into athletics."

Interesting, I didn't know the Eclipse song wasn't going to be used anymore. The article mentioned that they were going to be doing some recording, so I wonder if that means any other new songs. Also, Matt said he dropped out of Clash of the Titans but worked on about 20 minutes of music, so I wonder if that will ever turn up.
